I assume the ugly stick sprouting out of the nose is a sensor of some kind for the test flights?

its to do with getting a reading in 'clean' air that hasnt been messed up by the aircraft.

Roughtly $40ish million + options and then + completion. So $50+ when your done!!

I think our G550 was $47.5 delivered - now 18months old.

Ref the sleeping for 4... normal config will be a double bed at the back (so 2 or more or err!)
+ you can convert 4 of the other seats into flat sleepers... so technically you can sleep 6. on a standard 550 that is...

Up for rental if anyone is interested: http://www.gamagroup.com/aviation/fleet/gulfstream...

Wow that's more than I thought. It must take quite a long time to recoup the outlay.

tbh... most are privately owned but managed by our company. Therefore we rent it out on their behalf to re-coup some of their running costs.

What's the cost of renting a private jet then??

Say I wanted to travel with 5 friends from BRS to JFK/EWR/LGA and back?

There's a company operating an Airbus A319 business jet out of Luton. I was tempted to find out how much that badboy would cost.

totally depends on the size of aircraft... but for a staeside trip taking into account range...

your looking at Circa £7-8000 per hour of flight, Plus crew expenses, Plus positioning sectors, Plus catering, + permits etc.

To give you an idea, we did a 1 way bahamas job and it was rumoured to be in the region of £70k.

Although... not being a commercial man... i may be talking bks

ETA: that was on the aircraft i posted above. You could rent a LearJet or similar for 2k
upwards
