In the hope that this thread may develop into a bit more than just pictures, what are the training requirements to enable you to get airborn?
I would imagine its one of the cheapest ways to get into the air with an engine.
I learned to Paraglide first...2 week course which gave me a CP rating....I would imagine its one of the cheapest ways to get into the air with an engine.
Then I bought a motor...strapped it on and hoped for the best...stupid really but I knew how to fly and handle the wing so I was most of the way there...all turned out well and i must say i will never forget my first flight...breath taking...
Nowadays you can be airbourne within 3 days of initial training....the most important thing is to learn how to control the 'wing' before even putting the engine on your back! Once you have mastered that, then you proceed to the engine side of things...
Do not try to fly without proper tution...(unlike Kev a fellow flying buddy)........he was lucky this time:

Cost....to do it properly with new kit and training....£6k to £7k
Then you have your very own aircraft in the boot of your car.....quite unbeliveable really..
Best memories I have was floating around a balloon on a quiet sunny evening with a basket full of people with kids waving and parents taking pictures..
