Another F-16 software glitch was discovered during an early sales deployment to Australia - 4 F-16s were happily flying along, all on autopilot, when they all simultaneously rolled inverted. Seems the autopilot interpreted crossing the equator as the aircraft being upside down, so tried to correct the situation.
Ref for this? Can't belive it!
I've been told the same story, but with the F-16 changed for Harriers.

Apparently this has happened a few times on Tornados. (Wait for the Tornado boys to confirm or lambast me!) Pilot pre selects undercarriage "up", nothing happens until weight is taken off undercarriage (weight on wheels switch deactivated)then undercarriage retracts even if you have subsequently aborted take off.
Yes, in the early days at TTTE there were a few mishaps, sometimes operators, sometimes the systems design not being "robust" enough, most often a combination of the two. There was a system in the early days for the main doors to go to "half open" (or half closed!)as the main wheel cavity being partially enclosed by the door gave a high pressure area. Unfortunately the switchgear involved on the doors legs could disable/lock out the REALLY important contacts/logic of u/c control. And the U/C handle is STILL gay to this day.
