Sunseeker have started to Market their new yachts under the 'zeus' name. Do a quick google search. They have not been building superyachts that long but the new ranges do look good.
Anyone notice that the beam on all their yachts upto the 105 were all the same ?? I heard this was due to the fact their dry dock in Poole was not big enough to build anything beamier.
Can't comment on running costs of the mega yachts but have had plenty of sub 24M boats and running costs are all down to how it's being used.
24M mooring at say st carles in Spain £7k pa direct with owner
24M prime uk berth 15k pa
24M prime med mooring 50k +pa
insurance approx 0.7% of hull value
service and running costs £10k pa
plenty of yachts are put into charter too. A few weeks charter work covers most of the above.
always bits n pieces need doing so another few bags.
Most sub 24M boats are skippered by owners or a skipper sub contracted for the day / week at between £100 -£300 per day depending on qualifications. I usually ask a mate, much cheaper.
Biggest cost, again only talking sub 24M is depreciation and rule of thumb for mainstream boats, year 1 the vat equiv and then 10% each subsequent year. Cut this down by buying a new model rather than outgong model. I have heard of superyachts owners running them for a few years and actually selling at a profit.
Eddie Jordon once said he has never lost money on any of his yachts and has just put a deposit on a new SS140. Small Sunseeker marketing perhaps.
Maybe we should sort a pistonheads yacht day out.

No idea how much its worth but I would like something with sails! If it had to be big and expensive then something like Adix would fit the bill - been round the world a few times think its back or just been in at Pendennis for some work as well
or Mari Cha III - Saw this in Bonifacio once dwarfed the rest of the boats in there. Was a record holder but not as extreme as Mari Cha IV

Hmm not a fan on their new Superyacht range, TBh i think there to big to be made of fiberglass and the finish is shocking, M4 a 37m was in Ft Lauderdale and if i was the owner it would have been back to the factory to sort the sides out so they didn't look like the surface of the moon!Anyone notice that the beam on all their yachts upto the 105 were all the same ?? Correct they were made to fit the dry dock they are made in also the hoist at the yard, i have a pic of a 105 stuck in the hoist dock!
