I spoke to one of my closest friends this week who is running big squrt boat(150ft) in Cannes. The owner has ordered a big X yacht for his son to play with and a new 200ft squrt for himself at 50mil. Oh and the old one is not sold yet... Still money about then...
I would like to broker those sales mmmmmm could retire moan

Wouldnt you just be able to retire, those guys make a fortune, sell the old one, broker the new build, charter a boat in the interim for the client... l hear the cash register constantly

I know this is nuts but I keep thinking of the Ex-US Navy carriers Saratoga, Ranger and John F Kennedy that are currently on hold for donation to museums or anyone else who has the money to buy them and thinking what interesting projects one of them could make. Endless space for the finest interiors and your own private squadron at hand to see off Somali pirates biggrin

Can I draw your attention to my post earlier on Mirabella, there is a world of difference between design and styling/artist impression. I very much doubt, world renowned building architects as they may be, would have the first idea in actual ship design.
Besides that would fail on so many counts as a frigate.........................

Actually it's probably more corvette-sized.

Much prefer flybridge boats, these things are mare to steer in port, like a big speed boat with limited vision. Worse still with Arnesen drives, yes they will thrusters at each ends but.........
Bad use of space... May mate ran Mangusta 88 yes it 40knots but I was like a big version of 20 odd ft cuddy speedboat. It was ok as day posh party boat with all the glitzy bits.Pants for spending good periods time on compared to similar sized flybridge boats.
Oh and clattered a 180ft Fedship when trying to berth with broken stern thruster.

I used to race against him when he had one of the first Swan 60's Highland Fling, mid 90's. It was quick boat back then, big budget always helps too......

It is not the nicest looking of boats but the helicopter is a cool tender, Ronin as it is now called was designed to look like a butterfly from looking down on it in a birds eye view,

I was at Lurssen when they changed the gearboxs a good few years back as it could not sustain 35kts with out over heating them, now she can sit at 35kts for a decent amount of time. She is incredible narrow then, there is a boat called Sea Bowld built by Oceanfast (Austal) that looks very similar

Excuse the pic.
Got this mast outside my window at the mo(behind the grey building that's about 20 metres high, take a look at the parked cars for an indication of scale). Must be a 60-70 metre mast so the boat's not small. Been too lazy to go have a look at it. It's in dry dock for a week for some paint apparently. I'll get a photo when it leaves, I think thats tomorrow.
