Anyone watch the Sunseeker documentary last night?
Sorry to say, but it left me with the impression that all involved, from sales to execs, clients and crew came across as total arses. Sort of folk I’d swim through shark infested waters to get away from (“Marlene!!!”).
I’m sure not all in the industry are like that, but god these things attract a certain ‘type’ it would seem.
In the local paper they used to advertise jobs all the time, so a high turnover of employees it seems. You would think not, working in a industry like that but then the same is said of Mclaren......what looks ok from the outside is not all it seems within. I know there are a lot of negative aspects working in Mclaren etc reported on here and other forums. I caught some of it before realising I'd seen it before, think it was on 2-3 years ago. I guess that's the lifestyle they are selling and it works for them. Maybe things at Princess are different - similar end product of course, but a different approach to the sale?
I felt sorry for the younger sales guy... looked like they’d been sold a dream of “big commissions and big watches” but I suspect only the execs enjoy that.
They must of had 16 sales guys for one of the events and ended up selling 40m worth of boats... at 1% for the salesman £400k doesn’t go far... especially if that’s swallowed up by one or two big tickets. The rest must have been on bus fare home.
The sales pitches they televised were truly ***king horrendous, utter cringe.

Do Princess have a different image to Sunseeker? Genuine Q - no idea except that we have ex friends with the latter I guess that's the lifestyle they are selling and it works for them. Maybe things at Princess are different - similar end product of course, but a different approach to the sale?

Once again a yacht designed to look good without any thought on how the deck crew will keep it clean. This will require a crew member to physically go over the side in order to clean the side of the yacht. This requires Risk Assessments, permits to Work, Certified harnesses and safety equipment and a supervisor and of course the right weather conditions. One sand storm or 'Dirty rain' and it all needs doing again.
I hope they have tracks and rails and Pad Eyes in all the right places.
"Hey, you guys, go 70m up the masts and wave at the helicopter!"I hope they have tracks and rails and Pad Eyes in all the right places.

Saw Montkaj in Cannes this week, looked fairly sizeable. There was another big one that was half blue half white in the other port but I didn't walk there to see what it was...
Pretty sure the blue hull was ‘Sunrays’We come to the South of France once every few years, got really lucky with our Air BnB this year... I’m not massively into boats but do enjoy firing up the Marine Tracker app and seeing the names, and having a nose who owns them.
Eclipse was been in, our and in again this week (his B767 was parked up at the airport when we landed) I can see ‘Ramble on Rose’, ‘Aquarius’ and ‘Infinity’ bobbing around at the moment....it was only when Googling what ‘Intrepid’ was I realised some ships need a support vessel for the toys too.
Question though, the Eclipse seems to swing around, I’ve been reading up on how they anchor ships like this... but is it a gentleman’s agreement how close you park next to this specific boat to avoid swapping insurance details ?

I did a short stint polishing someones superyacht and if I remember correctly Sunseeker was a running joke. Don't think their entry in to Superyachts was too well received.I mean...I wouldn't complain about owning one.

Personally, I don’t care, my first transatlantic flight’s magazine had a Camargue 50 feature in it and I’ve wanted one ever since. Albeit their default walnut is way too light for my preference.
As for that TV show, I didn’t think most people came across too badly, apart from their London based salesman. I’d sooner use wasps as suppositories than buy anything off him.
