£10m rofl

I think one of their gibbons got a bit confused with the numbers, because numbers can be tricky sometimes.

They read it's length of 105m as 10.5 million.

Not sure how the Sun make it out to be 142m long (468ft) Oceanco say 105m - https://www.oceancoyacht.com/en/press/press-releas... but then they do get confused with numbers.

Ps, just read down the article and the Sun says it's £360m. Was that there earlier?

^^^ Looks like Andromeda? ex-Ulysses.

Amazing thing if it is - saw it in Antibes last summer.

Indeed, a surreal look through to the other world.....
The question I'd like to ask those that are part of this Superyacht gigging is whether that Video ^^^^ bears any resemblance to how the Yachts are used ?
Or, is it far more mundane and simply a bolt hole that is used because its on the books ?

We received a CV for a position on board our boat from the person who made that film very shortly after it was released. Apparently the reality (for crew at least) did not live up to the hype.

But, it depends entirely on the owner. Just as some people will own super-cars and only use them for posing on the high street, there will be others who aren't afraid to track them or take them on grand tours of Europe. Some people own big SUVs yet never take them off the road (I know, unbelievable right?). It's hard to generalise.

To be fair Hart is an adventurer more than a playboy. The fact the shipyard was Kleven, a builder of commercial working ships and exploration vessels. They had never built a Superyacht before and only did this for Hart if he ordered TWO. This yacht is 107M (Grey) and was sold months after it was finished and his new one is 116M long and Blue.

My cousin was head chef on one of these. He said it was long periods of comparative ease, contrasted with insane levels of busy when the client or their family was anywhere near. He said his owner came only a few weeks a year, but when he did, he came to go fking mental laugh

A few interesting facts about Andromeda. It is an Ice Class yacht with heating for fuel tanks to aid efficiency. Its propulsion system is a Hybrid Rolls Royce Diesel electric. It holds 470,000 L of fuel and consumes 600L/hr at 12 knots Giving it a range of 8500NM (9800 miles) so can go anywhere except the Poles

Half a million litres.....

So half a million to fill it up (at a rough guess). Staggering.

Luckily with that much range you can strategically fill up in the cheapest places smile

The Chefs certainly get run ragged at times. Not a position I've ever envied.

My parents popped in to see him in Antibes once and got a brief tour.

His bunk was.......cosy to say the least! Like something out of a 2 berth caravan laugh

Right down in the depths of the thing crammed next to the engine room or something!

Very good money though but he ended up leaving to run a restaurant (where he won a michelin star not too long after).

Doesn’t matter how much fuel you have, you’re never going to the South Pole in a superyacht.
I would if I could!

I was referring to the extreme environment and Polar Class requirement as opposed to the range/ability to get there smile
