Never had to but there were times when I thought I might. Two incidents in particular.

1. Small frigate on a long patrol.

2. A few years later was on an aircraft carrier.
Which ones?
Phoebe (F42)
Ark Royal (R07)

I did:

Ark Royal - R09
Invincible - R05
Cumberland - F85
Chatham - F89
Illustrious - R06
A fan of carriers then!

I decided to join the RN after watching the TV series about Ark Royal (R09).

Maybe Greenpeas can throw some more of their donations in it's direction, buying it as a replacement for the Ady Gil.

Apparently the Flying Fox is in the Indian Ocean in trouble, and we've been asked if we can throw it a line.....

You'd think he'd Amazon Prime across the spares needed?

Think I've been fantasizing about that and goggling for info and videos since you posted it.
Wow. Luv it.
I know next to nothing about 140’ motor boats but I must say 4 1/2 gallons per hour sounds remarkable for a beast that size and weight.

Not even a single helicopter parking space so totally impractical for my needs. I’m out.
That's absolutely gorgeous, surely the most economical way to cruise about? I wonder if you could get a similarly cheap-to-run cruise out of a smaller trimaran that you could run single handed.

Bezos doesn't own Flying Fox. It is still in the hands of the person who commissioned it, who happens to be Russian. smile

You could try it, but there's always the danger you could get the nautical equivalent of this:

You can indeed: Nigel Irens is one of the best multihull designers ever and has penned this type of vessel many times http://www.nigelirens.com/boats/power-boats/ilan/

I’ve seen it in Antibes quite often as Dilbar - but my god that interior is vulgar/disgusting - like a very very cheap cruise boat.

That's not the interior. That's the previous Dilbar which was sold. Typical Daily Fail.

There are no interior pics of the current Dilbar.

Anyone know anything about ‘Without a Name’ that seems to be on the outside of Monaco harbour on MarineTraffic?
