I think I’m right in thinking that doesn’t include the fuel, food, mooring fees if you want to go elsewhere and the tips at the end.

It just sits below the deck. The moving deck has a small gap around it which allows the water to flow past as it rises up on hydraulic rams and locks at deck level. The pool underneath is ready for use once the floor is lowered again.

I’ve installed several raising floor pools in houses. They really are spectacular. Never done one on a boat though!

It’s quite common. The hull below has already been strengthened to carry the weight of water above. The floor has side rollers to carry an6 sideways forces due to the boat movement. They even did the same (non-moving of course) with the Canberra when it was pressed into service as a troop transport during the Falklands war.

An EC145 MAUW is about 4 tons. A typical yacht pool will contain about 40 tons of water, though in reality these pool/deck/helipads are rarely used as such due to the FOD risk from all of the aft open deck area.

A friend has one in her house - the floor rises and it turns an indoor swimming pool into a ballroom. The only issue is that, when you get loads of people bopping, the water underneath starts to slosh around and splashes up through the gaps..

But the reality is these yachts aren’t rented. They are listed such that they can run most costs as a business. Billionaires don’t pay tax

When I looked after QUATTROELLE she was $1m US per week to charter. The same family chartered her for 3 weeks in the Caribbean and then 5 weeks in the Med.

Much as I like the UK - I would rather charter a boat in sunnier climes. £40k a week in Croatia and I would be considering a charter with some friends
