Crikey, there's a lot going on there, isn't there? Was it drawn by Gorden Wagener?

Globas moored in Puerto Portals. €22m or thereabouts last I saw listed so grossly under budget for this thread, but still the first time I’ve seen a full sized sailing yacht on board as a toy.

I like that, and would like it even more of the hull was painted blue.

Great size of boat as well, I actually think I'd prefer that size over some of the really big superyachts.

I like that chunky and purposeful. A sensible size too.

Absolutely lovely. My ‘semi-realistic’ dream boat is a Nordhavn, but that’s on a similar yet totally better level!

What is the largest sailing or motor yacht that you could realistically pilot without a crew?

pilot? or Park?

I always say the sailing is easy. It's at the dock it all gets feisty.

I think you're allowed up to 24m solo/shorthanded, and above that you need at least a basic qualified crew. Docking a 24m on your own could be 'interesting', although I'm sure there are experienced sailors out there who manage it.

Having watched the TV series "Below Deck", even a crew can struggle to get docked sometimes, with the odd yacht gaining a few marks from hitting the dock!!

There’s plenty of blokes seem to manage up about that length solo.

That’s even an afternoon at Nikki Beach with the trophy wife/bird/mistress ko’d on the aft sun pad so providing absolutely zero help hehe

I have seen a few boats of that size docking easily via a remote control. First time I saw it, I thought the guy was playing with an a drone while the captain was docking then I realised that he was actually the captain and only crew onboard. Pretty handy tool to have!

As mentioned, most modern boats up to 70/80' if everything is working could be taken off anchor and out to sea by one person. Parking / berthing / docking whatever you like calling it is realistically very deferent.
View from my office desk as I type is this:

I would say Sailing yachts up to 40/45' on a good day you could drive on and hop off with the lines, motor boat 50'ish (if its easy transit from helm to dock), there is one thing getting the boat next to the dock/pontoon without crashing but then securing her is another thing altogether. Add in some wind, weather and tide then its all reduced massively. I see it all happen here, I also move a lot of boats solo, and I know when I want help!!

Depends on whether you are asking what is physically possible, legal, or safe? You will get three different answers. If I had to (zombie apocalypse for example) I could single-handedly move the 90m yacht on which I'm currently sitting off the berth and into open water, but it might not be pretty. Especially if it was a bit blowy. I'm sure it would be possible on larger vessels too.

ISM compliant vessels will have a minimum manning document detailing the number of qualified personnel required for 'legal' navigation(but not necessarily safe or efficient operation). Private non-ISM vessels don't require this, so in theory have no minimum.

In practice, I would say 20m ish is probably your limit, but even on that size having some help or remote maneuvering options would make anchoring/mooring ops etc. easier.

Just seen Stardust go down the Thames. 62.5m long and registered in Cayman Islands. Looks like it’s a charter, but love to know more eg value.
