Keep boats separate, have to admit that I have no interest in planes and trains and now hardly check this forum to try and see if there are any boat posts in the middle of all the other stuff...

To me the issue is that Boats WAS busy until it was chucked in with Planes and Trains. Now it has been swamped with Planes and the boaty types dont bother any more.Might as well just call it Planes.

You can blame me for starting all this.I enjoyed the old Boat forum and now there are hardly any boat posts.

The poll is going to be very Plane biased, as this section is now predominantly used by Planes, so may as well give up with my Boats crusade now.

there are a couple of sections on here that are hardly used, ie only 1 post this year so space could be re allocated for those who have difficulty with more sections.

I like aviation and the other stuff as well, but I feel that some of the more specialised nautical threads or practical boating threads either don't get posted or get lost amongst the rest. I would support a split to having a boats section, and a more general transport engineering covering aviation, space exploration, trains and other hardware; mainly because there are quite a few people who are actually into boating, rather than observing from the sidelines.

Any chance we could get some hard statistics on that from the traffic vaults at PH Towers?

It struck me a while ago that 'petrolheads' would be a better name for this forum , so I typed it into my browswer and guess what came up ?

I don't really see any connection to boats , planes or spacecraft so I voted for the I don't give a fk

Then I saw the light , the dreaded Dieseal engine develops much more £ per £ performance than petrol so I'm off to pioneer Dieselheads.???????????

ETA , The domain mame seems to be for sale , or at least un-assigned , fill yer boots

I think the connection is that once we've done the PH Phase 1 Nirvana thing, and operated the highest performance motor cars we can feasibly achieve, then the next personal challenge involves a medium more challenging, and less forgiving, than a nice safe bit of tarmac - be it sea or air - whilst still involving a monumental exchange of hydrocarbons for agreeable noise and grin levels.

...or stay here, and spread the word. smile

There are plenty of aviation forums, and plenty of maritime forums, but nothing comes close to PH for that - and I haven't used this word since Piemageddon - eclectic mix of informed debate, utter gobste dross, and everything in between.

Anyway, I'm not taking crap about PetrolHead credentials from a devotee of Bavarian Lederhosen lard-barges, Vauxhall Underpant skid-marques, and Honda's grab for the hairdresser market...you mincing lightweight.

Things pretty much continue as they are.

Close your eyes, and use the MinceForce. You've had that power since birth, don't try to deny your birthright.

You can't deny or overcome the power of the heritage of your motoring DNA, and that a thousand years of evolution has resulted in a high concentration of Mince in your personality.

You are a Mincer, you always have been a Mincer, and you always will be a Mincer.

Your only option is to accept that fact - to do otherwise will, inevitably, tear your Mincing soul apart.

+1 for space.

Alternatively, we rename it the "FFF" forum. ie. "If it f...., f..... or f...., rent it." bandit

Would "Aerospace" instead of "Planes" cover it? I think the definition covers space vehicles as well as aircraft.

Yep. I hardly ever pop into this section anymore. When there was a boat forum I used to pop in reasonably frequently. Granted, I didn't post a lot but then how many have ever heard of 'A' Raters.
