I've just finished reading a book by Group Captain Tom Sawyer ( 'Only owls and bloody fools fly at night' ) in which he mentions Halifax Mk II bombers having the shrouds removed due to their weight and effect on engine power reducing operating altitude by a significant margin.

I can highly recommend his book by the way

I don't understand why a triple turbo system would increase exhaust flames?

If the gases have to travel further from the manifold to the exhaust (to go through the turbos) I would expect reduced flames if anything.

Is it because they run a richer mixture, or maybe it only happens when the engine is slowing down?

??

My mate Stu is the travelling engineer on this plane (he's the chap with the green headband at 4'50"), usually they transport famous bands like the Foo Fighters and so on but he's just been to Antarctica!

Some cracking drone footage that I suspect the CAA would have a cow about if you did it in the UK!

Well if you thought there might be a shortage of RR Merlins to keep Spitfires and the like flying.

Vintage V-12s in the USA have quite a few, plus Allisons, Griffons as well as rare BMW and Jumos. Also Centaurus and other radials.

Keep watching the warehouses get bigger and fuller.

Nice - now how long before they repeat those tests on a rolling & pitching carrier deck...
