I was using a reasonably cheap Sigma 70-300 F4-F5.6 DG zoom on a Sony A230 with the shake reduction system turned off. All shot at ISO400 in program mode with spot metering on. Its my first proper go with that set-up having bought the camera as a bargain in the John Lewis sale!

Duxford was hammered today, even the usual vantage points were brimming, grandson and I enjoyed some of the display from the field by the recycling site and have to confess to Eric, the Arrows were superb.
I considered going again today, even after the debacle yesterday, but couldn't face the 2 1/2 drive again. If only we'd set off an hour earlier!

Oh well, I'm now looking forward to taking the youngster to the autumn Airshow in October. Let's hope it's not snowing. This was supposed to be the year I 'christened' him in the various methods of how horespower should be properly used (instead of diggers and tractors).

Yes, they are cool

What lens were you using?
The right lens, the wrong shutter speed......

All of their engines have stopped wink

Try shooting prop aircraft at 1/160. I know for Hercs 1/100 will give full discs wink

Not sure my shaky hands can cope with 1/160th! but thanks for the tip, it is a bit disconcerting to see all four props on the Lancaster apparently stopped.

Alternatively I could try the Reds as above, no props. Great shots of the Arrows.

Not sure if these are amazingly cool, but here are a few snaps I took at Farnborough earlier this year.

Been going through my pics from Wings and Wheels recently... a few faves below.

Not sure if I should have slowed the shutter down and frozen the prop less.. any comments?

I think they all need to be brightened up a tad, 3 looks a bit blurry? But 1 2 and 4 look spot on, fozen props come with practice, just shoot in Shutter Priority or TV and set it to 1/200 or below. Sorry if that's over critical just offering some advice smile

Critical is good... it was my first airshow with a DSLR.... might have a play with Photoshop, but weather was pretty crap...
