There are about 4 or 5 Daimler Benz powered 109s currently flying, most in the US.
The example flying in Germany is actually a Buchon with its Merlin replaced by a DB605. The Buchon was essentially a 109G with a Merlin.
I hate seeing the Buchons and the fact that people seem to get so excited about them. They're just not the real thing but they're all made up to pretend to be.The example flying in Germany is actually a Buchon with its Merlin replaced by a DB605. The Buchon was essentially a 109G with a Merlin.

I like seeing them, but I wish they would paint one up in authentic Spanish colours.Farnborough 2014

I hadn't realised that she'd been beaten for speed
I was a little sad to hear she'd been beaten, unofficially in 2010 and officially in 2013. I wonder how they got over the supersonic blades issue that the Lynx had.
I was glad to read that G-LYNX had been restored in 2011, smoothed rivets and all!

(after the war, the boss of Fairthorpe Cars Ltd, among his many other ventures).
Bennett, the man Bomber Harris said was the most efficient airman he had ever met.
He saw the potential of the then underestimated and magnificent Mosquito which was used principally as the leading aircraft of Pathfinder marking forces. He regularly and against regulations would fly a Mosquito himself to observe the marking of targets and the subsequent attacks.
Incredible man. Yet of all the senior RAF commanders he was alone in not being knighted. A man with such outright views, I think he tried to become an MP and even showed support for far right parties probably didn't help. Nonetheless, he should have been knighted.
