Would they have developed a VSTOL version of the X-32 like the winning X-35 (F-35) that our carriers are going to have, at some point as yet undisclosed /irony
Actually it was designed as VSTOL. It was intended to have Harrier-like jet nozzles instead of the bloody lift fan that the F35 has ended up with. Edited to add:
And here it is hovering!

"The eject button, you fool".
The XB-70 actually had two separate ejection capsules for the pilot and co-pilot. In the panoramic cockpit shots you can see the recess into which each ejection seat was placed. When an ejection occurred, two shutter doors swung across in front of the pilots and they were ejected in a "cocoon". It didn't actually work very well when it was needed for real.

Why do Navy Planes Have Tailhooks?
Unbelievably, people don't realise that after a tough day of flying on and off of an aircraft carrier the planes are
always washed, and they use the hooks to hang the planes over the side to drip dry.....
