I was just speaking to one of the Sgts in our ops room who told me his grandad died recently and left him something in his will.
He pulls this out the draw. An original design draft for the Lincoln Mk1. Turns out his Grandad worked with the lead designer (Roy Chadwick).
It’s beautiful to see such old documents but it’s a shame it’s in such poor condition but never the less thought some of you might like to see it.
Very interesting. I wonder if the museum at Woodford would like to see it? They are looking after Avro heritage. He pulls this out the draw. An original design draft for the Lincoln Mk1. Turns out his Grandad worked with the lead designer (Roy Chadwick).

We have a small museum on base that is run and manned by us, visitors of the station often go see it or relatives of people who have been station here. It might be going on loan there I believe.

The holiday home we've been to a few times (recently more famous for being used by drug smugglers and helicopters!) is just out of shot to the right of that picture. In the four times we've been there we saw loads of different aircraft doing the white cliffs flypast, it seems to be the must do thing for all visiting aircraft.Article with pics of the damage caused to the X-15-A2 by frictional heating during its Mach 6.72 flight

I don't know if it's the actual Swiss plane that two Swiss climbers landed on Mont Blanc (to the outrage of the local mayor) but it's a pretty cool photo of an aeroplane on a mountain... https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jun/18/moun...
Plus Pathe News footage from 1951, when one imagines that a bunch of climbers hiking a Piper Cub up to the mountain and flying it back down (or were they repairing a stranded aeroplane?) would have been regarded rather more positively... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZz-ErlvOZE
