Can anyone help?

I have a 3 year old who has become obsessed with Spitfire's, Mosquito's and Tiger Moth's (good upbringing). Whilst the rest of the family are at the Ballet on Saturday I thought I would treat him with a trip out.

My question is, how accomodating is the RAFM for (very) youngsters. He's broadly well behaved but some interactive exhibits plus the odd "open" airframe would make the day much easier!

Anyone been recently?

I don't remember any interactive exhibits at such but there is a Short Sunderland that you can walk through and a Chinook too. It's very much a family day out, so expect visitors of all ages.

There are lots of interactive/push-button video screens in the Milestones of Flight Hall.

Noot so much in the other halls - but there is a Battle of Britain audio/video show in the Battle of Britain Hall.

I went there Saturday with my brother in law and nephews (3 ish and 6)

We found there was plenty for the kids to do, including the chance to sit in a trainer of some sort (sorry, not a plane buff) and operate the controls. There are also plenty of touch screen interactive stations they can play around with.

Well worth the free entrance fee! (take some cash for donations!)

Lovely, thanks everyone - sounds like there's enough to keep him occupied...(whilst I have a proper look around!)

There's also the walk-through Sunderland in the Battle of Britain Hall although it (the aircraft, not the hall) is sometimes closed off.

I'm assuming Duxford is too far away? As good as I found Hendon, Duxford takes things to another level.

Plus they have a Blackbird cloud9

I have taken my 4 yr old daughter to both Hendon and Duxford (entry at Hendon is free btw), and she enjoys Hendon a bit more as there seems to be more interactive stuff for the little ones to do there.

RAF museum Hendon is indeed free, and a great day out.
If I remember rightly when I last visited there was a simulator (not free), but this may not be there now.

Edit: I meant to add, 3 years old and Spit & Mossie obsessed! He has a great future ahead of him! smile

Hope so, he's keen on Bugatti's (pukka) and "Fewarri's" as well!

Thanks for the other suggestions, he's off to Brooklands for the VSCC driving tests in January and Duxford is a treat for the future.
