You know how it is with the internet... one thing leads to another...

From http://www.corgi.co.uk/shop/615/ju-88c6---f1xm-4kg...

to 47°14'31.64"N 38°51'20.22"E

Quite an interesting mix of Russian 'aerobilia' dotted around I thought (but am not clever enough to identify them all!). Have a browse around the place and see what you can find.

Indeed. I've just googled '47°14'31.64"N 38°51'20.22"E' and the return gives me a list of French hair salons...

and then you ask..

The area at 47°14'25.75"N 38°51'6.54"E looks the most interesting, as there seems to be a few MiGs of various types lined-up. Shame the resolution isn't quite good enough.

Ok,

I can make out the following types:

Il-76 (by the bucket load!)
An-12 (few of those aswell!)
Il-76 (Beriev A-50) AWACS
Mig-21 Fishbed (gate guard and elsewhere)
An-74
Mig-19
Su-7
Mig-23
An-2
L-29
Yak-52 (I think)
Be-12
And a tank in one of the berms...

At the airfield south of the given coordinates...
Il-76 A-50 AWACS
Il-76
Tu-95
Beriev A-40
Beriev Be-200
Beriev Be-103
Beriev Be-12
An-2
A Glider of some sort
other light prop aircraft - Yak-52's again?

This one looks like the Beriev factory - there are concrete slipways off to the East of this airfield and a lot of big factory buildings around the airfield.

I'd guess it's one of the graveyards things had to be parked in as part of arms reduction treaties? IIRC they had to be easy to count by satellite so both sides knew the other was playing straight.

Yes, I think it is a combination of active airfields, factory, and aircraft dump. I checked and the Beriev HQ is in Taganrog. I would say the Cubs are out to pasture as are some of the Il-76's but the rest either belong to Beriev or the Ukrainian airforce as 'active' aircraft. I didn't realise, but, the A-50 conversion was carried out by Beriev - that explains the relative concentration of those types here. Apart from the Beriev owned aircraft, the rest are private (the small types) or part of a small museum of types previously flown by the Ukr. AF.
