wow! that's ace
what'll it do, mister?
As it happens I'm not too sure, i will find out for you though tomorrow. I know it has a 4 cly. boxer turbo engine from Rotax, but that's about as far as I know. I also know it only used 18 litres of fuel in about 1.5 hours of cruising today, SO much better than the old Gyro which was an open top one. (very similar plane but slower, less economical, less refined and a couple of years older)what'll it do, mister?
Saw my first one flying yesterday. There's a private strip just to the North of Sywell adjacent to the A43. Flew past last night low and one was just taking off.
Mate of mine (Gary Masters) been doing some work on one. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=19661189370...
If you want a trip out you're more than welcome to come and land at my strip here (Naseby Northants). I'm seriously tempted, saw one at "SPLASH" 2 years ago and they look the dog's!
PM me for the Lat Long if you want to drop in, kettle's always on

Thanks for the kind offer, I will let my dad know and then when we get time to go for a decent fly, we may well pop over. It will make a nice change from going to leicster airport for breakfast! I knew someone would mention that! as it happens, it's is kind of what's paying for the gyroplane. Just not what you think it's actually nearly 5/6 tonnes of sawdust...from our kitchen manufacturing business, the more dust we make the more kitchens we have made which means more toys like gyro planes

various pics of a nice machine
Out of interest, and hopefully not too personal a question, but what sort of money are you talking for one of these? On someones URL link above, someone states about 80k for them. Prices will be going up shortly due to tax. The same happened on the last one, we managed to get in before the tax gets sutck on and get it at better price.

Another question;
Does it take off and land like a plane.. On a runway, or like a chopper?
Very very cool!
Take off is more like a plane but with a good headwind can be up in a very short distance. Landing is more chopper like but still needs a run way. Once again, with a headwind it speeds it up and you can almost land on the spot. Does it take off and land like a plane.. On a runway, or like a chopper?
Very very cool!
Wind is the biggest key to take off and landing.

A gyro thread without this picture. For shame.
OP, gyros used to have an awful rep for falling out of the sky, have things improved with them, or they still a bit 'twitchy'?
Massive improvements, especially 2 seaters. Single seaters can still be a bit pendulum like though. 2 seaters like ours are probably more stable than a plane or helicopter tbh, if the engine dies then you will just slowly glide down aNd you can still land, without having to emergency/crash land etc...OP, gyros used to have an awful rep for falling out of the sky, have things improved with them, or they still a bit 'twitchy'?

And where can you go in it? Anywhere you like? Obviously not main airports as I'd imagine you'd have the Police chopper to you quite quickly but other than that is it free for all?

Anywhere you like really, you need permission to enter controlled air space such as east midlands... And where can you go in it? Anywhere you like? Obviously not main airports as I'd imagine you'd have the Police chopper to you quite quickly but other than that is it free for all?
You can go over to France if you like...
