Drinking a wee talisker in anticipation.

If anyone with a run share wants a swap with a bottle of barrel 1, speak now or forever drink your gourgeous rum infused malt.
I will.

1. Middle Bottle is labled PX3 when it should be labled SC40
2. Middle Bottle is 'cask 3' so should be on the right if going in order of cask 1, 2, 3
3. and 4. Casks 2 and 3 were bottled on the 10th

I also thought that ppx1 was the first to be filled so why is P10 the earliest fill date or is that another mistake?
I could have added the chill filter thing but judging on the temp in our house when we got home, I think it was almost as cold as the WB storage hanger! 10 Deg C downstairs and 8 Deg upstairs! Can't wait to get central heating installed and running again!

Am I getting my priorities wrong ?

The cases are still safe locked in the car - in the dog cage.

The cars have both been washed - in the rain ! But I have been trying the Linkwood 12 that I picked up after you all flew.

And with Mrs Mercs looking after baby Stanley I spent the day shopping - seemingly like all the lone men in shops, on the phone double checking the shopping list (and trying to help an old bloke trying to find Woolworths !!)

Those at Creetown, having spent time with a well behaved Winston, already were aware we were collecting our latest 8 week old addition on the way home - a very precious car load all round !

Yes, I was wondering about the full date of PPX1. It was the one we ordered and paid for first but I seem to recall the OX casks were delayed so in actual fact the refills were fine first. I'll check the Certs.

Yes, PX3 should read SC40 and that and P10 were filled on the 10th.

hehe

Some may say it is sacrilege but I've mixed down a small sample of PPX1 to about 47% and, by god, it's lovely! Really opens it up and provides a much fuller flavour/sensation in the (my) mouth. Blooming great and really enjoyable!

If someone can check my maths, I've taken 78ml of PPX1 and added 22ml of water which hopefully makes 47% ABV as best as I can get with very rough measurements!

Time to sup more! - of course if I drink all I've mixed up tonight, it's ~3 measures of cask strength PPX1! Hic!

Wonderful to see people enjoying it smile

Someone raised the question before, but on the empty casks are refills possible ? What is the process?

This was a matter for debate when we were doing the tasting and bottling; the sherry cask will likely be refilled but whether it's worth reusing the refill casks as-is is debatable. Perhaps experimenting with re-conditioning them with some sherry etc. or as someone suggested there's a desire to try putting beer in one.
