Oh forgot at add; great write up.
And there we were getting all excited - damn! Yep MrsMercs picked out Special Needs as well.

You missed our (Classic + MrsMercs) tour of Glendronach earlier in the day - the visit to two excellent bakeries in Portsoy to line my stomach (you may have noticed I am as round as Lefty is tall).

There were lots of other bits that Ronnie pointed out along the way but I didn't want to make the posting too long. The roof was special though, as well as the tasting.

Yes we saw all four of the other casks. We only have to wait another 5 years, more or less!

Hope you get up soon.

How to shoot someone down smile

Didn't fill my own - being 4000 miles away and no current plans to be in that neck of the woods hampered my attempts. smile

Having said that I'm eyeing up the Bruichladdich offerings for a cask, and one I'll be enquiring about in a week or so directly with them.

No, still not ready!!

So we've got peated and un peated refill, unpeated port, peated and unpeated PX.

But...

...who fancies unpeated bourbon? £650 so same rules as before, £65 each?

Ooh, rum octaves too?

Tempted, however; there is something related I've been meaning to ask, and this seems to be the correct place.

So, please excuse the thread hijack.

I have managed to reproduce. So, if I wanted to buy something now for collection/opening on his 18th birthday (assuming both of us make it that far) what would I be looking for and how would I go about it?

Phone up distilleries to find who has spirit distilled on his DOB, explain what you're doing and ask to buy a cask.

Congratulations!

Ooh, forgot to say, pm me if you need bank details again smile

Anyone care to join me at Portsoy for filling?

P.s. the best "new" Glenglassaugh I've tasted is unpeated bourbon at about 39 months old, it's absolutely gorgeous stuff (and that's from a refill barrel, not an octave! 3yo Octave of bourbon is going to be phenomenal, I'd wager.

Umm - we are coming up to Perth in two weeks.
We had thought about a crazy day trip to Oban - 190 miles. Its only an extra 50 miles for Portsoy - and the pie shop is nice as well.
