New owners.

I agree, the new pricing structure seems crazy.

I have been following Glenglassaugh Distillery on Facebook and one of the chaps on there has just bottled one of his Octaves so I thought you would all be interested in what he has to say.....................

‘Colour is beautiful and its really good’ – not the most descriptive but just what we wanted to hear.

I asked him how many bottles he got – Octave produced 54 bottles ex-sherry cask, it was filled on the 16th November 2009 and bottled 15 August 2013, so what that a couple of months under 4 years ?

Other people asked other questions I've picked out the relevant bits.

Tax worked out at £22.22 per lpa (Litre pure alcohol)
Angels share = 25% - looks like they are thirsty angles !
Strength was 55.8% tax = so about £11 per bottle at that strength

Most interestingly is that Glenglassaugh have stopped all sales of cask and Octaves so we got in while the going was good.

Oh and I think - although I’m not absolutely sure that this is the first Octave bottled.

Hi chaps.

Yes, I saw that on Facebook too!

Interesting that they stopped octave sales. I'd heard that they had hiked the prices up to (daft) levels.

Yes, we're still a few years away but if anyone ever fancies visiting our casks give me a shout smile

I may have to give the distillery a call, my cask was filled in 2009 so could be ready for bottling. Usually have a sample in August but not seen anything this year yet.
Was up last month with some American visitors, saw the cask but never asked about the maturing and when it woud be ready for bottling.
Didn't know there had been such a price increase on the casks though.

It's obviously time to put your distillery purchase plan into action if it's so profitable! How much does an entry-level booze factory cost? wobbledrink

There's a legion of distilleries that have ceased production. I'd invest in a share if someone wants to do the business plan.

New build I think you could probably do something for £1-3m. Not crazy money.

yes

So at best, you're looking at a 10 year wait.

You could do a GlenGlassaugh - put some of it in Octaves and just wait three years - all the while keeping some aside so that you can have future expressions of age.
