Pistonheads whisky cask
Discussion
Lefty - have you had any samples of the casks. I think my second batch must be about due so wondered how the PH ones were getting on. I know there was a huge difference between with the oak and PX casks for the same period of time. (I think I posted the pictures on here).
On the distillery front - we could offer distillery experiences - working with the still man, the mash man etc and have the occasional open day.

+ The costs whilst you wait around for Whisky
So at best, you're looking at a 10 year wait.

Not necessarily; if it was an existing but dormant distillery there might be malt in bonded storage, which could be used to do special/limited editions to raise brand awareness and sell for wads of cash.
And there's nothing to stop you selling casks / 'spirit drink' / younger ones before then. Gizmoish said:

If we are organising our roles in this new venture - I’d like the job of sweeping the Dunnage Wherehouse floor of our new distillery - I could easily spend my days breathing in the lovely aromas !

Second batch ? - What was the first batch like ?I think we need detailed tasting notes !
So anyway I've got a couple of other casks there ( Mr Mercs has seen one of them and Mrs Mercs commented on the other I recall) -
So anyway - I've got a PX and an Oak (Lucious Nips) octave there - both peated spirit. So about this time last year I got the first of the annual samples.
After one year - the PX is looking like this.
Side by side they look like this with the PX on the left hand side in case you were confused.
From my notes at the time sent to a friend. It's still strong from an alcoholic perspective (as expected) but there's a lovely sweet aroma coming from it. Even neat it's both very drinkable and enjoyable but adding just a small dash of water brings out a snifter of peat from the spirit. I think it'll be interesting.
Looks like I forgot to say thank you for posting the pictures and the notes for your samples – sorry and thank you crmcatee.
They look great.
I have two reasons for posting, a chap on another site has had an Octave bottled from Glenglassaugh and after 4.5 years he got 54 bottles. He says roughly 10% angels share.
I thought we would all be interested to know.
Secondly I also like motorbiking and stumbled across this thread on a site I visit every now and again and though it might appeal to some on here given its content ?

So is it ready yet Lefty………………………….???????????

Not a problem - and I've been informed that one of my second samples has arrived so I'll see that in a couple of weeks to compare side by side. They look great.

That bourbon angels share is brutal. If I didn't know better I would have said the barrel was leaking and the remains are what was in the barrel below the leaking point
