Pistonheads whisky cask

Fancy visiting - yes please. Able to do so - looking slim ! Working on the potential of 900 mile ''day trip'' - sadly both our dog sitters (mothers) are unavailable on the day in question. May sound a bit excessive but I can think of another PHer who would do a similar trip on his day off to take a few photo's. Don't really fancy dragging the dogs around on such a crazy trip.
Might try and find another solution.

I'd love to and would be there like a shot - however I fly back from the family holiday into Gatwick at 2320 on the 12th, I did consider sending the wife and kids home in a taxi, sleeping for a few hours and getting the first flight to Aberdeen in the morning but I don't think it would have gone down too well.
Next time !
Have fun chaps.

Well I had an awesome afternoon with Mr and Mrs Podie at Glenglassaugh.
We managed to sample most of our Octaves. Highlights for me were the Peated PX (absolutely awesome dram, ready for bottling now despite not quite being 3yo - holy st it's good!) and the unpeated bourbon - again very close to being ready.
Some if the others wee noticeably still raw (note, not "harsh"!!!!)
As always, a great reception from the lovely people at Glenglassaugh.
Podie, an unrivalled pleasure to meet you both, let's do it again soon for a bottling ceremony!

Well, today, after many years I finally met Lefty. What a thoroughly decent gent he is.
Had a tour of Glenglassaugh, and met Mhairi McDonald - and sampled some of her (outstanding) work.
Not the prettiest distillery, but honest, open and very, very friendly.
We also sought out the PH casks and had a small sample of them. Great to actually see e casks there, although surprising to see how much spirit has evaporated!
Sadly, many of them are not ready yet - but they really are going to be fabulous when they are - lots of potential already evident, and some of the, I'd buy now.
Sad news is they no longer do octaves.
More details and a few photos when I sober up...

I'm in on the unpeated bourbon so that's good to hear!
If anyone wants to sell a share (or half share) of the unpeated sherry or unpeated port then I'd be interested.
Lefty and I were chatting about this. I'd be interested in exchanging a few bottles. If anyone wants to sell a share (or half share) of the unpeated sherry or unpeated port then I'd be interested.
I'm a Speyside sherry man through and through, but the peated casks were a revelation. In fact, the near spirit from Glenglassaugh is fruity and light - quite like grapa (as noted by one of the tour guides).
Lefty clearly has a more developed palate than my good self, but I think we are a year or two away.

Rubbish. In a way, that's the magical thing about whisky: there's such a huge variety of flavours and textures that (nearly) everyone can find a whisky they like. What one person loves another may abhorr. It just so happens that I like almost everything!
