Has anyone tried these from Aldi?

Yes!

Picked up a pack on spec. the other day and finished them off in some toasted tiger rolls for lunch.

Impressed me enough to pick up another pack for this mornings fry up mmmmm....

(only do a fry up once or twice a year)

good meaty sausage with a proper skin that doesn't split and shrink.
Thanks Tony, I've now got some in the oven and might get more. I know you understand your food so if it meets your standards it must be decent!

My local aldi seems to have found a roll of 50% off stickers....

nipped in at 9:30 last night for a few essentials and left with a pack of the fresh profiteroles for £1, servers 4 apparently angel

i might have to take a daily trip at 9:30 to see what other delectable delights get reduced!
I don't think I've ever seen Aldi reduce to clear
It's the poorly managed supermarkets that are better for reduced stock. As the stock control isn't great. Aldi and Lidl are well managed so rarely have surplus stock, good control and rotation.

They usually have a standard 30% sticker so make the most of the 50%!

Is the paiela frozen? I've not seen it. What's it like in terms of size, quality and cooking time?
Its in the fridge section - 20 mins in the oven at 170 - perfect quick dinner for under £5!

That Aldi Paella goes really well with their Godello wine.

A rare miss for me this week. We'd run out of tea and grabbed a box of Diplomat Red Label tea while shopping for our usual items.

It's awful. Avoid!

The green tea is spot on! 80p for 40 bags, strong enough for 2 cups out of each one if you're really tight (I am)

I like that! - do you have sugar in your tea or not?

That said, I also recommend the peppermint tea, not so much for the taste (it's acquired) - however it does wonders for.. ummm... wind

I normally get Meat from the local butchers as they are fantastic but yesterday I was in Lidl for some bits and pieces and noticed their Steaks looked good and were pretty cheap (went for Sirloin). A few hours later they were in the pan and I didn't have amazing expectations if truths be told but they were bloody lovely.

Aldi apples are a revelation!

After getting thoroughly peed off with the state of supermarket fruit (no flavour, no crunch - just bland) we gave the Aldi ones a try and they have been consistently brilliant...

Will do. My most recent find is the sugar-free Cream Soda. 37p for a litre. It's probably full of chemicals and aspartame but it tastes good.

Otherwise, today's shop was the staples: Wild Bill's IPA, Mud City Stout, 70% cocoa dark chocolate, fish cakes and Greek yoghurt.

A general question to the Lidl-ers. Has your usual store gone a bit off plot lately? We went in yesterday, the shelves looked like war had been declared, the Met office had announced there would be three months of solid snow and all lorry drivers going on strike.

Now I do accept it was a Thursday, and we usually avoid Thursdays as it's the start of the new sales campaign and all the "while stocks last" offers, so it's always rammed, but in general we've noticed a general decline in standards. Maybe it's a local staffing issue, we thought, but sis in law complaining of same at other end of country.

We've noticed the specila offers on Lidl's website haven't been quit so special in recent months so went into our local store rather than Aldi a couple of weeks ago, it seemed to be business as usual; it was busy and the shelves were well stocked. One of our local Lidl stores has planning permission to expand and the other is closing with a bigger store being opened a short distance away so the company doesn't appear to struggling.

Yup, my local one (Newbury) looked like a bomb-site last week. Hardly anything in the freezers and use by dates were really short as well.

Agreed about specials. Mrs IanA2 also opines that some items are absent from stock for long periods and that prices seem to be on the increase. That said, I'm sure prices are up elsewhere in other shops.

Next weekend Lidl are doing a case (6 bottles) of Prosecco for 20 pounds. A couple of cases should keep me in the good books with the GF

I've noticed prices of Lidl fruit and veg creeping up in recent months, but as they are everywhere else. Lidl is still cheaper and fantastic quality for things like salad greens, peppers, avocados and tomatoes. Citrus fruit and root vegetables, not so much, nor fresh herbs.

Citrus fruit quality (and root veg for that matter) improve considerably in Lidl in the winter when European grown produce comes in to season. I reckon overall Lidl is a class higher than Aldi for fruit and veg, but same price.
