ALDI & LIDL Food and Drink Worth Trying?

Not really an Aldi-specific product but I love those lovely big sweet potatoes they're selling - either just microwaved with the skin on, or cut into thick chips after partial mic'ing, then shallow fried 'til crispy. Herbs, salt, flour coating for extra crispyness optional.
Thanks for this went in there today and bought two massive ones had them baked for lunch with the misses. They were absolutely lush.

I've mentioned these before - but didnt post a photo
They are great - really crispy.
did try the cheaper big bags but they are a bit rubbish.
On you recommendation.
Dreadful things.
Cheap, tasteless potato and pappy texture.
The only ones which pass any kind of muster are the skinny fries in the red bag and the huge cut Specially Selected ones in the back bag. Though the latter still need over-cooking to avoid 'floppiness'.

Wooah, now let's not say things we can't take back. The boggo-standard chips are damned fine, and ridiculously cheap.I've tried the skinny fries, but I lack the dedication to hover over the oven for that 60 second sweet-spot between cooked and vaporised.
If you want contentious, huge cut chunky fries have no place in a frozen aisle. They just taste like oblong jacket spuds without the best bit.
There, I've said it.

.. dare I ask.. how did you cook them? You did use a dirty deep fat fried didn’t you?! - that’s how I do mine and they are always really crispy after only a few mins. In the basket.

If I were deep frying, I'd peel and cut to be honest. Thought frozen chips are normally seen as oven chips i.e. expected to taste nothing more than just ok... dare I ask.. how did you cook them? People who cook and eat chips in their own home... off to the Council thread! ;-)
What if we fry them in the garden on a special fry station because we're not allowed a fryer in the house? With traditional striped wooden deck chairs.
Do you?
On second thoughts this sounds much like Gypsy Folk life... when you say ‘house’ do you sleep in a separate caravan?

A chip shop within walking distance was a factor in me buying the house! However, what should I do on a Sunday when chip shops are traditionally closed? Or if pissing it raining/hailstoning.. Plus homemade chips are always the best as they bring back childhood memories if your mum made them.
To lazy to cook...off to the Council thread for you Gretchen!

Monday, non?
I always thought it was chip shop Sunday, Chinese Monday?Traditionally, chippies were closed Mondays because fisherman (like all God-fearing folk) had Sundays off, so would go out for a new catch on a Monday, which would then be in the markets overnight Monday-Tuesday and in the chippies for Tuesday lunchtime.
This is, obviously, an historic situation though.

It’s not quite the seaside as we live in the woods, but I think it works ok.

Regional thing? In my area of London, Sunday is closure day, and inevitably when I suddenly fancy some!Friday tends to be busy for fish & chips, sunday tends to be a need for chips to go with leftover chicken. Although I once read in paper you can freeze chipshop chips so should do that more.
