ALDI & LIDL Food and Drink Worth Trying?
Discussion
De-railed. A thread on PH. At least it’s remained shopping related! Could be worse.
I went to a Morrison’s at the weekend. OMG. The choice! I don’t drink Tea but the Tea aisle made me wish I did. It smelt amazing. I picked up a bottle of pink Gin (well actually it was the cats gift to me on Mother’s Day), I’m having some Cauliflower rice mix tonight for dinner, and some exotic bits for a stir fry tomorrow. And my friend bought the most amazing Orchid. I love Aldi (and Lidl) and they can’t be beaten price wise. But it made a refreshing change. I felt quite overwhelmed. And. A bit emotional.

Aldi / Lidl are for your staples and German curios, other shops are for your "bits" I went to a Morrison’s at the weekend. OMG. The choice! I don’t drink Tea but the Tea aisle made me wish I did. Back on topic. Picked up some more bulbs in Lidl today. I’ve bought and planted around 5,000 since Sept last year. Picked many up half price and loads from Aldi/Lidl, B&M, Home Bargains etc. The ones in the ground are up and many flowering already. Loads more to go in. These were marked as £1.29 each or 5 for £5. However a couple of them scanned at £1.99 each. Lad on the till was more than happy to refund me and sorted it no problem.
The equivalents from garden centres are often 3x the price. I’ve also spent here too and many of the bulbs have been rotten on returning home. And they’ve been in season ones!
All the plants I’ve bought via the bargain shops have so far flourished (a couple of huge Hostas, some Cordylines, Lavenders and a few herb pots).
I’ll be sure to post Gladioli darling. Big kiss.
Head up Hyphen

Woman at work is going to be late because apparently she’s off early to pick some bits up! She’s odd too

We're off to Morrison's, got a 10% cashback offer from Santander. Rare 'treat', maybe it'll be emotional. Treat in inverted commas due to idiots unable to park properly. Don't get that problem in Lidl or Aldi.
Strange observation, is this a 'class' thing?RammyMP said:

Have any of the PH Aldi tribe tried their microwave fast food products? Cheeseburgers, rib burgers, breakfast muffins etc?
I've tried their breakfast muffin ( the sausage one, dunno if they do a bacon one in other stores?). 7/10 for me. Not as good as a Mickey D's double offering, but vastly superior compared to the Rustler's muffin.
Might have to give the whole range a go in some masochistic public service exercise.
We are really healthy in our house!
I've certainly come over with a strange desire for somewhat overweight women in unfeasibly thin and tight leggings as a result of consuming it, but... it wasn't too bad.
Microwaving the bread is always going to leave it in Maccy D's wake - fortunately I turned it upside down as soon as it came out of the microwave, which dryed the 'soggy bottom' quite promptly.
A cheap but tasty emergency brekkie, IMHO.
So was talking to a dentist a few weeks ago who said cheese is good for the teeth. So will be working my way through Aldi options to neutralise any chocolate binges
Starting with the hard cheeses, so far picked up the Manchego (edible and will finish, but aftertaste is bit strong) and the 25 month matured vintage Cheddar, which is strong but in a good way
