The very thought of a sausage made with Turkey or chicken for that matter makes me hurl
I used to think the same - but they're generally very good, and so much healthier for you.

Even for things like salami, I've switched from pork to poultry-based.

Our Lidl just had a mini refurb, increased the number of chillers (and along with that their meat offering) and also increased the range of their specially selected stuff. Many, many more lines in and most of it looking pretty decent, added half a dozen self serve checkouts and a couple more normal tills to ease the bottleneck.

Reckon it puts it on a par with Aldi now after this.

Aldi Thai Green Curry paste.

Pants.

Nothing about it. Ended up sexing it up with a huge dose of sriracha, after which it was nice, but no longer Thai Green Curry.

Crossing the streams here - this is a LIDL one.

Their 'Bring the Pain' hot sauce. I never have too high an expectation when a supermarket own-brand says something is hot, but this is really, truly, fantastically hot. Up there with Dave's and Blair's and those kind of things.

Really impressive.

They're also selling Tabasco Chipotle edition at the moment, which is my favourite Tabasco flavour by far. I should go back tonight and buy 12.

I do wish chipotle in general would catch on in the UK in a bigger way, it's a fantastic flavour.

thumbup thank you - i will pop by LIDL for some of both.

the tabasco chipotle is one of my favorite sauces - not hot, but wonderful smoky flavour lick - i wish tabasco also did this in the large bottles (350ml) - as they do their original flavour in.

I got a big bottle of the chpotle one out of Harvey Nicholls once, years ago. It's not the best chipotle sauce though. The Kankun one is amazing, I've seen it in Lidl before. If anyone is near Edinburgh or Glasgow I recommend Lupe Pintos for your hot sauces.

They run a brilliant business. I'd love to get involved with something like that.

The hot headz kethups are great. I usually have a bottle of the Habanero and the chipotle ones kicking around. I bought a bottle of their naga sauce once, it was too much for me.

Yes, agreed. I order mine from mexgrocer.co.uk when I have to top up my other Mexican supplies. It's not particularly cheap or a large size but it's my favourite. I'm running low now.

Bacon joints. Under £3 a kilo, cut inch thick make great slabs of gammon, char grill with some tomatoes, a fried egg, onion rings (not Aldis) and some Aldi skinny fries (deep fried not oven cooked) and its like Berni Inn all over again... mmmm

A rare bad one tonight, fresh cod loin. Looked lovely but bloody awful, odd tinge of blue cheese about it but properly sealed so couldn’t have picked it up in the fridge.
