I think Aldi's 'house' pilsner - Rheinbacher - is better.

If you're happy to drink canned pilsner, then at 75p for 500ml it's a steal. Else the bottled version at 99p provides perfectly acceptable general quaffing.

Not a fan of that Rheinbacher, it tastes too "thin" if that makes sense?

For sure - I tend to bring back crates of beer from Germany 2 or 3 times a year - it's no premium regional pilsner.

But I do have the Aldi stuff knocking round the place too - sometimes a beer just needs 'necking' and I'd rather drink that than a Carling/Fosters/Bud type liquid.

I split my time between the UK and Sweden - in the UK my preferred lager is San Miguel, but this project thing was a welcome change of pace.

We get the ferry from Göteborg to Fredrikshamn once a year and buy up as many cases as we can of Åbro, Spendrups, Sofiero etc etc.

The UK has the worst "cooking" lagers imaginable, they do it so much better on the continent.

Anyone's local Aldi having stocking issues with the squashes?

My nearest one hasn't had any apple and blackcurrant squash in for weeks. Neither the 'normal' one or the high juice.

Also, has anyone tried their Desperados offering? Homberos I think it's called.

Yes - I like the square bottle ‘summer fruits’ - not seen them in weeks now, even the orange version bottles have gone I was concerned they might have finished the line.

I’m not so keen on the barley water, round bottles.

Same department... I was somewhat grumpy that they stopped the 6x500ml packs of sparkling water about 3 weeks or so ago. Right in the middle of the heatwave!

Sombrero?

It's ok but not fantastic. I wouldn't not buy it but would look for Desperados or Amigos first.

Doesn't sound promising if it's not just my store.

I've seen very little of the orange as well.

Maybe just Aldi hard-balling the manufacturers? Hopefully they'll be back or another similar line in soon.

That's the one! Thanks.

I'll give it a try sometime.

Not sure if these offers were nationwide but my local Aldi had lots of pet stuff at bargain prices. I sold a second hand dog crate for £25 last year or so. £9.99 for these was an absolute bargain! Even the before prices must be half original price?

They also have this in. Has anyone tried them?

The chilli one, I'm tempted to try it with tomato juice,

I’ve got a feeling the same thing happened last year with the squash for a little while. Fingers crossed it’ll make a come back.

They're both good - the Chilli and Ginger one does indeed make a very fine Red Snapper.

I noticed the fresh orange juice, smooth or with bits was out of stock today.

I noticed it too with squashes and fizzy drinks, some bits I buy have been unavailable for weeks.

Might not be relevant but this sign has gone up in local Co-Op

We've noticed this in Aldi too, very little selection in Lidl today aswell, no blackcurrant. Hope it comes back soon as I drink it a lot!

Picked one up yesterday. £1.89 I think. They were in the freezer next to the regular stonbaked ones. To be honest I wasn’t looking for it, trying to find something else for one of my fussy lads. It was rather lost in the cabinets and otherwise unnoticeable.
Why does it say on the box “a typically hot.....” does it vary? rofl
Well it seems the 'Etna' is a store specific pizza frown I went through every freezer, checked all the labels... no Etna for me.

Also still very little in the way of squash offerings again this week.

But the new store refit is looking tidy.

Yep a lack of squash again for my store a couple of days ago.

Ended up buying a big bottle of Robinsons elsewhere. Not as good IMO.
