I popped into Aldi's earlier today and was straight away called over by the closest till girl - Me! I exclaimed, I'd only just walked in the door. Yes, I was called over by the till girl to be told that the violet creams ( the ones that Gretchen recommended last and this year) were half price! Well 69p, I managed to get the last 10 packs and as I like the rose creams as well bought 5 of them too. Lots of other Christmas treats at half price which I also succumbed to biggrin
I actually wanted a fresh malted bloomer but they only had 1/2 price ones dated for that day - so will have to go back there tomorrow smile

I think I hate you. I had to go out for cat food (which btw three supermarkets are out of inc Aldi) and whilst in Aldi noticed they were reduced. Except my local has only had the orange ones for a few weeks now cry

When I was buying them - I thought Gretchen would be so proud of me biggrin
I think the orange creams are always the last to sell - my store still had plenty of rose and strawberry ones too.
The other favorites, the mini stollen bites were down to £1.39 and mini stollens to 49p

I am proud. Also a touch jealous. Well done.

These are very nice indeed for that random fridge raid at 9pm at night.

"Village bakery" naan breads, not perfect but so much better than the normal ones. Good enough to mean I don;t want to make my own *all* the time.

Did my shop during lunch today. Lots of bargains at 20p and 70p (freezable and still with four/five days left on). Also picked up a spiced Leicester Black Ham reduced from £12.99 to £2. Have put my fresh Beef in the freezer and will do the Ham tomorrow as have guests.

Then picked up some Masons Gin gift sets reduced from £30 to £8 in the Co-Op (plus a sneaky 20% discount on top).

Wish I went LIDL now. I went asda and managed to get £3 4x burger patties (from the chilled seciton) down from £3 to 60p. same thing with 400g packs of beef stir fry strips, usually about £3, down to 50p!

The Ham was lovely. Very tender/moist and tasty, so easy to slice. I’ve given half away too so will feed another family and still have some for sandwiches tomorrow.

Three courses for six people for less than £10! (Excluding drinks). Pate was in a festive package so reduced to £1 with Lidl part-baked rolls, bargain Ham, mini Yorkshire’s with Beef were 12 for 20p (I bought 2 packs), Chocolate Pots (Salted Caramel and Belgium Choc & Orange flavour ) were 4 for 20p (2 packs) - these went down really well. Nice and rich but small enough to enjoy.
I always serve Creme Eggs too - they were the most expensive item!

I just got stuck into the Harrogate Blue from the Xmas range, it was stunning. I love my blue cheeses and yet again, ALDI put something out that would match any of the more expensive stuff.
Had it with a little of the fig chutney too, finished the whole pack of cheese. Lovely.

Thanks - Glad I went light in the desserts and as everyone was struggling by then. Brilliant at just over £1 per head for three courses.

I’ve picked up some of the festive/luxury bits tonight.
These wine pairings are down to £3.50 - bottle of wine and bar of chocolate and the Gin Truffles £1.19. Will use them for nights in/entertaining over next few months.

Thanks for the heads up Gretchen smile I got the last 6 Chardonnays and a Malbec today, also picked up some more mince pies, cheese savories and the gin truffles, some more rose creams and the dark chocolate Belgian flaked truffles. At this rate the diet won't be starting till March biggrin

I got a bottle of Glen Marnoch 30 year old single malt whiskey from my local Aldi yesterday. It was reduced from £40 to £16 so figured it was worth a punt...... I'm trying to stay off the booze this month though so won't be able to test it just yet.

I also got 2 boxes of stilton and walnut savory biscuits, they're like crack!!

It's a great deal at £40. At £16 you need to go back and buy every single one!
