I’ve been trying the ‘craft’ beer in cans. The Redwell was alright but the Ghost Dance was rank. To be honest I’m going to stick to the bottles of Wainwright’s for £1.29, it’s £1.50 in Tesco.
I thought the Ghost Dance tasted “off” really sickly & chemically

i think my issue with it is it's never in nice big bits always little scraps.
Thought about making your own? I modified an old kitchen cupboard with a mate of mine to make it. Nothing complicated, just need a computer fan and a lightbulb.

Have you tried one of those dehydrators from Lakeland?

've just opened a bottle. There's nothing to say what it is exactly other than red wine, classification wise it looks to be nothing more than table wine. It's not bad stuff, but I think the £5 Peuceta Primitivo from Lidl is much better.
That was a great tip, Balmoral, thank you!

Grabbed a bottle on your recommendation and could not believe the quality for a fiver. Light enough to drink alone, yet robust enough to complement a be-gravied meal.
I thought I'd give this a bash. Far too heavy for me. It's only a few steps away from a port IMO. Very full-bodied so if you say it's 'light enough' I'd dread to taste what you consider heavy! Fortunately I am having it with some food.

For anyone with kids, especially ones with ADHD like me, it seems ALDI have quietly dropped Aspartme from their juice drinks so it’s one less thing we have to go to a mainstream supermarket for.
Medics told us to steer well clear of it for any kids, never mind the spectrum ones.
Feel free to shoot me down if it’s wrong advice but other parents we know who have kids in the same position do the same.
We are down to Heinz beans, cat food/litter and Pringles off the top of my head when it comes to having to go to Tesco’s etc. There might be a few other things but not many....

cat litter .
Yep, Aldi's cat litter isn't great, it gets smelly needing a change much quicker than Catsan.

Feel free to shoot me down too but my kid don't have fruit juice at home. Medics have said to stay clear of all this rubbish, not just ones with additives.

Only allowed as treat when eating out/birthdays etc.

To be fair, and happily, mine have water most of the time, helped by the same rule at school, but when friends are round or when we all sit down to a film they have juice as an option, a treat kind of thing. Im just used to checking for Aspartme in things so I thought I would pass it on. It’s still in big brand drinks....
Absolutely no fizzy drinks at all though, I still find it astonishing that two of his friends openly drink very cheap energy drinks and one is allowed coffee at home, they are all nine or ten!!!!!!!!! I guess they are more worthy of comment in the “a bit council” thread though eh?

Depends on what you read or who you listen to I suppose.
For us there is plenty of anecdotal eveidence regrading artificial sweeteners and the heightened behaviour patterns of a child with ADHD, and more about Aspartme than any other. I’m sure you can find equal amounts of studies for whichever outcome you side with, as is the case with everything food based these days.
Some say it does no harm, some say it does, however when we have spoken to other parents in our situation they have all been advised to keep clear of it from doctors, the chap who did my sons assessment said the same so when it comes to my kids I’m not arguing.
Water is better choice anyway and there are some fruit squashes that do not have it so the choice is still there, so it’s not a big issue. However Aldi seem to deem it worthy of dropping from its fruit juices in one go. Who knows why but I thought I would raise it as it might have been an issue for others.
As I said though, it’s still in major brands of fizzy drinks, how many parents ban fizzy drinks as it’s bad for them, full of sweeteners and makes them go hyper??? Probably me being gullible but I’ll stick with avoiding it........

A minor annoyance with my local Aldi at the moment:

Custard Creams always seem to be smashed... and at 27p I'm in danger of becoming diabetic!

Bananas... So green they are crunchy!

I do worry about the human race sometimes.

Mainly I worry that we all get an equal allocation of votes.

...Which has got sweet FA to do with a banana.

I put them in a brown paper bag to ripen but its pointless - they are so green they spoil before they are good for eating.

I didn't think much of Aldi stilton until I accidentally aired it for a week by leaving some on a plate in the fridge and forgetting about it when I was away.

Blimey. What an improvement.

I can't recall the branding on them, but it was two different biltong/jerky packs from the same Aldi on the same day. One cheaper, one posher. I had hopes for the posher one, but both were too wet and greasy, tasted almost rancid. I'll eat all sorts of crap, especially when driving, but both these made me feel queasy.
