Yep. Lots being put out last night. Regret not picking up a couple of extra tins (I’ve used the Buttermilk shade before too).

I’ve posted previously that it’s as good as if not better than the Cuprinol Garden Shades, perfect colour match. Hopefully they’ve not changed their recipe.

The flatbread pizzas have been relaunched. Three new flavours in the 'flatbread' and then another two or three in a new 'Pinsa' range too.

Let's hope they haven't 'done an Aldi' and changed supplier, and lost the quality of the previous range.

What's the Pinsa like? Wasn't sure if it was any good so didn't bother.

Anyone tried 'The Perfect Burger'. Sounds nice, but they all had a greyness about them which I just couldn't see past.

"Expertly blended with bone marrow for superior flavour" ?
So not beef then.

That's quite a leap you're making there.

Could account for the greyness.

Oh yes; almost certainly. Just ruined the visual appeal.

This is potentially sad news, the calabrese was excellent, IMO.

Anyone tried the pinsa yet?

hehe

Certainly a beef burger!

Tried them last week. Not had bone marrow before (maybe as a kid, can't recall etc) so dunno if they've done it overly well as could be, but I did find it tasty and more filling than the Angus ones.

It had a rich bitterness to the aftertaste which worked well with the baby gem and mayo I had it with in a Scotch roll. lick

Interesting podcast about Aldi.
Don't let the Guardian link put you off, it's just a story of Aldi and how they operate.

Being retired I guess we have more time than most. But these days the Chef de Cuisine uses and old Spong (although we do have an electric one yet to be plugged in!! ) to make excellent burgers. And you know what's going into them!

Keep up! winkwink

Adding a little bone marrow to the beef is all the rage these days and results in a premium price

That looks awful.

For the money I'd rather buy Lidl rib steak and chop it very finely for steak haché. Even the cheaper rib steak works very well, and obviously you can adjust the fat content depending how much you trim off.

Just had the Pinsa - and really enjoyed it.

Very light and fluffy dough. No tomato sauce - it tasted like the white, onion sauce you'd get on an Alsace Flammkuchen, which I really like.

I was reading something recently about nitrites in food. One of the main reasons they're used in meat is to give a pink colour rather than its natural grey-ish tinge because it makes it more appealing to consumers.

I don't know what effect bone marrow might have (except on taste) but we tend to be more squeamish and picky about colour than we first imagine. I'd be very happy to eat those burgers.

I looked at those perfect burgers in Aldi today and they looked totally fine.
