Can anyone reccommend if any of the whiskys from aldi and LIDL are any good? (i would much prefer LIDL, as its easier to get to).

i normally drink it on ice, however lately i've enjoyed having it 50/50 with some soda water
I quite like Lidl's Queen Margot 8yo - there was a bit of a furore earlier this year when people where misreporting its success at the World Whisky Awards but it stands up well for the price.

some googling suggests it was wrongfully reported as best whisky in the world when infact it won best whisky in a catergory for whiskys that are 12 years old and under. still not bad for something that's £12.99. it was rated better than a bottle of johnniw walker black label which is usually twice that price.

Agreed, It's difficult to go wrong with either A 0r L offerings on the whisky front.

They are both particulary good on the single malt side.

how does this differ frrom the piri piri spatchcock chicken? because i tried the spatchcock chicken and it tasted like it was marinated in lemon-scented washing up liquid.

They're ok but I would rather buy a kebab than have one of them again.

Had the Aldi Stuffing Baubles (stuffing wrapped in streaky bacon) tonight on our roast, very nice addition.

They were doing 18 330ml bottles for a tenner the other day, proper bargain! £1.50 / £1.49 for one of those 660ml bottles is good value when Tesco don't have the cans marked down as well.

They certainly had it a few weeks ago as I picked up a couple, but my local had sold out yesterday. Ice wine can be amazingly expensive so I was amazed to find it in Lidl at such a cheap price. I was hoping to pick up a cartload of it before it went.
