ALDI & LIDL Food and Drink Worth Trying?
Discussion
I tried the new Aldi triple cooked, beef dripping coated, skin on, frozen oven chunky style chips for lunch today { £1.49/750g) with a Lidl's fillet steak ( last week's offer at £3.49)
Thought the chips were very flavoursome, impressed with them. Will buy again. They managed to stay hot throughout the meal
Prefer Aldi steaks to Lidl, but was OK and great value for the price.

Not food, but my nearest (Tong Rd, Leeds) is selling off individually-wrapped ZIP firelighter packs for 49p. Plenty left for folk as I only snaffled 5 packs
Yes, the firelighters were 49p at my local Aldi too. Along with loads of other very cheap prices (99p, 49p and 19p) on their 'aisle of dreams' stuff. I bought 2 pairs of ladies slippers at 49p each and a double climate control mattress protector also for 49p. 19p got me some silicon baking strips, some spice jars and glass cleaning wipes. My local often have had written stickers as low as 20p. Small corner at the end of the chiller section. Though I’m familiar with all the reduced sections and always check for a bargain.
Picked up a petrol can today for £1.49 and a DAB radio with Bluetooth for £11.99 both from Aldi
Haven’t tried it yet but it’ll be mostly for the cats to listen to so I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Mines never seems busy at all until the world decides to use the one checkout that's open just when I want to checkout...
As much as they throw the stuff at you faster than anyone can bag, it still takes an age. Ofcourse you could join the fight with the others when checkout 2 is opened, but you always seem to have a few items just going on the belt and the masses of lucky shoppers who are behind me manage to get served first.
I do enjoy the middle. I got a hotdog toaster once hahahaha.

I called at Lidl this morning, 8 items only, so no trolley, just a basket, which has to be left at the entry end of the conveyor belt. Therefore have no option other than to bag at the checkout. Despite the operator having flung three of my items through before the previous customer, who incidentally was not bagging at the checkout, had stopped fannying around and got out of the way I still managed to bag everything, chilled items in cool bag, room temp stuff in normal bag, not have any delicate things under heavier items etc., and hand over the cash without causing any delay. It's folks who aren't organised who are the issue, one prime example being those who get to the paying stage and only then start digging out purse / wallet.

It probably won't be much use to the collective as I'm in Luxembourg, but I'm delighted with these two bargains in Lidl.
Saint Emilion grand cru at €8.

Which of their red wines in the £5ish range are worth a look? Not shopped there in ages but from memory used to enjoy the Bushland Shiraz and the Kooliburra Shiraz which was daft cheap at about £3.50
I (used to before I stopped drinking) enjoy Aldi's Stellenbosch at £6.99Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
