This may actually be more for the council thread, however...

We have a period fireplace that I want to reinstate some form of fire in. To do so I need to line the chimney, to do that I need scaffolding. Other work needs doing whilst scaffolding is up, like new windows, repainting barge boards and redoing gutters. This is all adding up to 000s that I am still saving up for

Or I could just buy a fake fire from Aldi. hehe

I saw these today but no price. What a great fit. It looks cosy. I’m still converting a brick built barn for cat quarters and considering putting one in there once electrics go in. Be lovely for cats to curl up in front of.

Its basically a posh fan heater. Pretty plasticy to touch but looks ok from 4 feet. hehe got 2 heat settings and the second is quite hot. The flame effect does hum and the heater isn't very quiet.

The Dimplex Opti-Myst is the answer here.

Finally for round to trying this beer that Lidl were selling a while back last night - tastes just like Löwenbrau Oktoberfest which is lovely. Going to see if there are any left in the store as they make good gifts with the stein they come with.

It goes in the nutri bullet so it’s technically a fluid biggrin that other food should actually be in the other fridge, will have to have a word with the missus!

Has anyone tried the takeaway fries / dirty fries they sell in the chiller? I tried one of the pizza bread things and it was pretty good but keep wondering if the chips are any good?

Ah, understood.

Tesco has 25% off 6 or more bottles of wine until Thursday. Might be a good time to get an order in. I bet that 40-year-old port is good stuff. smile

I got a bottle of the Glen Marnoch Islay at the weekend.

I've had one for each of the last three years and they are really good value for money at, I think, £18.

The rumour one year was it was a rebadged Caol Ila. Regardless I shall be picking up another bottle when I next visit.

The old style shielding is gone. Now its only if you are CEV (clinically extremely vulnerable) and notified as such... at least I got a weekend away before being confined to barracks frown
