Lidl is advertising its Christmas spirits range. Anything look tempting to any of you?

Interesting to see some Penderyn stuff in there, normally very good quality (and a lot more pricey than that!)

There were a couple of Aldi wines recommended in the Sunday Times, I’ve bought half a dozen of each, they better be good! There weren’t many of the Viogniers left.

Does anyone have any red wine recommendations from Aldi, please?
My wife quaffs all the white wine, so I keep reds for me!

Thanks! smile

I second the Douro, however I must now try the Dao. smile

This Zinfandel is waaaay too good for the price at which they sell it.

This Sangiovese is rather nice

Aldi doesn't seem to have a fancy whisky this year, or are they released later?

On the wine front, both of these are worthy of recommendation:

Stellenbosch, Aldi £6.99. Believed to be the same as Boschendal Lanoy that normally retails in the likes of Tesco for c£9 a bottle.

Priorat, Aldi £8.99

I tried the Viognier - not based on the review - I just fancied it.

Wasn't impressed to be honest - got a bit of an odd after taste I thought. However i'm by now means an expert!

Had a couple of their Reislings however and they were both excellent.

Let me know if you find any, will you?

I haven't been in to Aldi for a while due to a tricky ticket machine/awkward bend/RHD car-combo going on, and was seduced by Lidl in the meantime. However, Aldi is closer and I now have one of those fancy litter-picker-with-sucker-fingers things to facilitate ticket manipulation so am keen to give it a go.

You do know that this is Aldi Uk (Sud) and Luxembourg is Aldi Nord. Very different companies and products. We are very disappointed with Aldi Nord in France, so we stick to Lidl but Aldi uk is much better.
Basically the recommendations on here will not be available to you. ☹️

Notwithstanding, there's also very little similarity between Aldi Süd UK and Aldi Süd Germany or elsewhere.

The UK firm is particularly autonomous.

frown

I'll have a nose anyway as the local Aldi has improved massively in the last year, and it's only 1km away.
