I've got a pie for my tea tonight, can't down a bottle of wine with it though as I'll be driving later...to Aldi. Will pick up a bottle for breakfast while I'm there though.
Can you get me a couple? I’m too p**£ed to drive...
hehe

To be fair guys, the poster may have personal circumstances that may make them sensitive to how alcohol consumption by others is perceived. smile

Let's just thank them for their concern and get back to the Aldi and Lidl bargains.

Has anyone see the Brie with chili rounds Aldi used to do? They were brilliant melted down as a sauce with pasta.

No... but hehe ... your 'has anyone seen' reminds me that I've not seen chocolate-covered mini stollen bites this year. I much prefer them to the naked ones.

where's the soft set scotch eggs at? bought these months ago on a suggestion here, delicious. Sadly the past 3-4 weeks I've not seen them at all. The normal scotch eggs just don't compare.

Any good wine recommendations similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape? I normally get a few bottles to give out as gifts, but anything else worth trying similar in taste?

Recommended in the Times last weekend.

2018 Le Moulin Teyroud, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
France, 14.5 per cent
Aldi, £19.99
Christmas without a decent bottle of châteauneuf-du-pape just wouldn’t be Christmas. This year the keenly priced bottle to buy is Aldi’s really rather good, contemporary 2018, with its rich, mocha and dried herb palate, plus a sweet perfumed-leather finish. Great with stilton.

Or
2016 Château Châne Liege Pomerol
France, 14 per cent
Aldi, £19.99
Hats off to Aldi for rooting out this little-known estate in the modish and much-prized right-bank commune of Pomerol. With all the fat, fleshy fruitcake oomph you would expect from a class-act merlot, this claret won’t hang around for long, so get your skates on.

The butthurt from the home drinkers has made me laugh out aloud. What is particularly funny, other than it only being an aside, is that I wouldn't have identified anyone on particular, but lots of people have outed themselves.

Summer product, innit. There's a major range switch twice a year. It's all about pies and pizza now.

yes This thread really needs renaming. It's been Aldi and Lidl from pretty much the start.

I think most would be in agreement with that? Do we have a mod who frequents this? How do you even reach a mod?

Good grief, the shame of it all.

How did you feel your interactions with other people went yesterday? Any progress, do you think? Did you try any of the empathy routines we discussed last week? Did anyone hit you, or display any other signs of annoyance, or aggression toward you when you tried to communicate?
