ALDI & LIDL or Aldi & Lidl please, mixing the two irks somewhat.

Should it not also refer to food & drink worth trying. It's not all about food is it!

The "Aldi & Lidl (and occasionally other supermarkets) food, drink and other goods worth trying" thread.

No - we don't want Farm Foods and Iceland and Asda bleeding into this den of middle class fetishism hehe

FarmFoods don't sell booze, so I can see why nobody is interested in hearing about their frozen delights biggrin

I propose, for the benefit of GC8, 'The Aldi and Lidl Wine Worth Trying' thread.

Agreed.
I went with the app names where ALDI is upper case and Lidl is a mix of upper and lower case, but it does look wrong.
Now noticed that both supermarkets use all upper case in their logos so title updated.

Scrump will be annoyed, as I've flagged up it's not just food being posted whistle

Any good wine recommendations similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape? I normally get a few bottles to give out as gifts, but anything else worth trying similar in taste?
Recommended in the Times last weekend.

2018 Le Moulin Teyroud, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
France, 14.5 per cent
Aldi, £19.99
Christmas without a decent bottle of châteauneuf-du-pape just wouldn’t be Christmas. This year the keenly priced bottle to buy is Aldi’s really rather good, contemporary 2018, with its rich, mocha and dried herb palate, plus a sweet perfumed-leather finish. Great with stilton.

Or
2016 Château Châne Liege Pomerol
France, 14 per cent
Aldi, £19.99
Hats off to Aldi for rooting out this little-known estate in the modish and much-prized right-bank commune of Pomerol. With all the fat, fleshy fruitcake oomph you would expect from a class-act merlot, this claret won’t hang around for long, so get your skates on.
Cheers for that. Will give them a look.

The butthurt from the home drinkers has made me laugh out aloud. What is particularly funny, other than it only being an aside, is that I wouldn't have identified anyone on particular, but lots of people have outed themselves.
we are in lockdown, where else do you expect people to drink?

I thought the new title addressed the views raised but there have been a few reports about non food and drink items not being mentioned in the title.

Does the new title adequately cover things or do any of you have a view that it needs to explicitly cover the middle aisle as well?
In which case the new new title would be something like ‘ALDI & LIDL stuff worth trying’
I wanted to ask as the thread is in Food, Drink & Restaurants.

We've been going for 188 of (my sized) pages already, so I think we probably get what the thread is about by now.
