Today in our local Aldi these were reduced to 9p each. Had to buy 3, it would be silly not to and a large Marzipan Stollen for 9p too. It felt like Xmas. biggrin
9p. 9 BLOODY pence!!!!!

If our local Aldi has that offer I'll be clearing the shelves of them eek
Typical! Went a couple of days ago and they were still £3.50(ish) with plenty left. Our 10 year old grandson has spotted it and wants to try some, from some of the comments is this a good or bad thing?
Have just bought some puds that were still marked up as £3.49 on the shelf but at the till were 9p. The chocolate creams which were £1.49 are also 9p. The mince pies were too, but had a short date on them whereas the choc creams were for dec 21 and the puds July 21. I think a lot of the tree chocs were 9p as well

I agree with the second bit. Our Tesco had the lights fitted they'd were policed for about a week
AIUI, the lights are in lieu of someone standing there with a clicker. i.e. the power of individual compliance.

I've only see them turn red on one occasion at Aldi, though I do tend to avoid peak times anyway.

The Aldi BBQ pork loin is very good. Sou vie'd with the BBQ sauce then you only have to warm it up - basically - at home, but lovely and tender.

My son has just started near a school with a Lidl around 5 mins walk from the gate. Good excuse to get some bits this morning

Bang for buck is good. Basil plant 49p. Vine tomatoes £2.18 a kilo. Multi seed round loaf £1.50. Nice soup and bread right there

Yum

As long as cooked properly shouldn't be an issue.

Yes, I suppose so. They do the same with eggs now too, despite eggs being contaminated for decades before immunisation.

anything specially selected is pretty much guaranteed to be very good.

Their Lyme Block English white wine is very good at £8.99. The SA Amarone rip off mentioned previously is okay so long as you aren't expecting it to be anything like Amarone. It's big on alcohol and that's as far as it goes IMO

..foodwise, I like their Lobster Mac (from the feezer) and the three fish roast is decent too.

We should have a thread where we all write that sort of thing down.

Guilty m’lord!
It was more the sure fire regular occurrences I was hoping for, rather than a full summary of 195 pages, but you are right.

Just being a knob. Sorry. smile

As mentioned, anything in the Prestigious Black Packaging of Dreams should be reliably good.

The packet risottos are unfeasibly good for the money and the ease with which they're prepared. Beans better than Heinz. Mushy peas better than Bachelors. Their absolute basic vanilla ice cream is really nice. The sourdough frozen pizzas are very very good.

The 'posh' Scottish vintage cheddar is bloody lovely.

There we go. I could have just done that without being a knob first, couldn't I!? smilesmilesmile

ETA the dusted fish fillet things are a fixture in our house. The kids absolutely love them.
