ALDI & LIDL Food and Drink Worth Trying?
Discussion
I only go into my local Aldis occasionally. Its too cramped, only ever 2 tills open and the car park too small as the site is shared with a Farmfoods. And since everyone in the town is in Aldis the local Tesco is generally quiet, so I tend to do my shopping there. Gave up with Morrisons a while back due to really slow service by them only having about 5 tills out of 20 open!
Recently in Aldi I did get 12bottles of Carlsberg for £6.69. At least £3-£4 cheaper than other supermarkets. Their chicken breasts seem to be good value too, avoid the giant battered haddock it wasn't that nice. Also bought a Thai green curry sauce but I found it a bit bland although it tasted OK.
I may have to venture there later at night when its a bit quieter, as the crammed shop full of people dithering does put me off.

Just bought two lightweight Polycarbonate suitcases (medium and largeish) from Lidl for £70. They've got four big swivelling casters with ball bearings.
They're as good, if not better, quality than similarly sized Tripp cases I've looked at costing £200+. They'd been knocking about the store and looked a bit worse for wear, but only because they were covered in a manky looking protective film and shop soiled poly bags. Once the bag/film was removed they were in perfect nick. Even if they only last two years (the same as my last Tripp case), they're still a bargain.

Just had a Lidl's Braemoor lamb shank, slow cooked in a red wine & rosemary gravy (£3.49). Very tasty
I was a bit confused about whether they were suggesting you slow cooked it - but looking at the microwave instructions, it was obvious it was pre-cooked.
I put it in the oven in a casserole dish with extra glass of red wine to the base, as it didn't look like there would be enough gravy - and thought it was great. Wonderfully tasty and will have again

Often been tempted. Will now be trying.
Had a wee barbecue on Sunday and picked up a few things from Lidl.
Whole chicken £4 - very tasty
Lamb leg steaks £3.50ish - really good indeed
Pork belly slices £2 - took some cooking, but lovely in the end
Tonight I'm having the 1/4lb burgers that we didn't cook, so I will report back once consumed
