Ooooh, had the Zinfandel but not this Primitivo, may have to see if I can get some!
They're one and the same, Primitivo is the original (and some would say proper or correct) old world name, Zinfandel is the new world name. It's interchangeable and I suppose the label changes depending on which market it's being sold in. Continentals get Primitivo, us new world drinking plebs get Zinfandel as the name is likely to be more familiar to those who drink Californian.Edited by 21st Century Man on Monday 25th January 08:54
But I really enjoyed it non of that tannin thing that gets me
Aldi's Gourmet Sea Salt crackers are lovely:

Great with cheese, but really nice with just butter too.

We had frozen Aldi lamb shanks in mint sauce tonight...
1: they're frozen into plastic bags which forms to the meat. You have to remove from the bags and put in the oven. Removing the plastic is a pain.
2: a pair take 80 min too cook. This is not a quick freezer meal.
3: they seem heavy on the calories for some reason... 480 per shank.
However they coooked really well and were bloody delicious. Literally fell of the bone.

That’s odd, the vacuum packed lamb shanks are usually only a few mins in the microwave. 1: they're frozen into plastic bags which forms to the meat. You have to remove from the bags and put in the oven. Removing the plastic is a pain.

Anyone any idea if this wine was specifically done for Aldi & if it's available from anywhere else or something very similar - the normal Gris that aldi have on the shelves isn't a patch on this and my stash has now ran dry
