The Wolf Blass Vineyards Release Shiraz is back in stock at my local Asda. At five quid it's brilliant value, at 25% off it is just astonishing. I'd pay £10 a bottle and would still be happy with the quality.

I tried the Douro and was very disappointed.
You've got to be the first PH'er to think that, it's widely regarded on this thread as their best red. It certainly is in our opinion. Different folks different strokes and all that.

I can't enjoy any of these modern IPAs. Too hoppy. I'll stick to my rheinbacher...hell... at that price I'd rather drink the nordic wolfe seltzer. (but that's me of course)

I tried the Give The Helles and also the Lunar Lager - both are really nice. I went through a stage thinking I liked the 1079 Project lager but they either changed the flavour or my taste buds changed and I ended up giving my last pack away to a friend as I couldn't drink it!

I was always surprised at how many here raved about it; thought it was dreadful stuff.

You can buy actual Brewdog for £1 per can off their website - https://www.brewdog.com/uk/punk-ipa-48-can

I'm going to go extra cheapskate but the frozen Aldi apple crumble for 85p is seriously good value, the apple is nice and tart and you can get 3 good portions/ 4 miserly portions out of it. There is an equivalent apple pie at the same price but I haven't tried it yet. Whilst I'm at it the 79p apple strudel is pretty good as well.

It wouldn't surprise me if they canned various different beers in the same cans, whatever the big brewers have spare and watered down to the same strength, so the taste varies - or if not that then just brewed at different breweries with different malts/yeast/etc so who knows what you get each time.

It's a Banks's Brewery product, not an Aldi fake label.

Will have to try that. I've probably mentioned the frozen strawberry swirl cheesecake at 65p - usually buy one of those a fortnight. Very tasty, even if not that good for you smile

That’s a blinding deal. Tesco sell the 5.4% San Miguel 330ml cans 8 for £5, I don’t think you can get a better price per litre than that and I much prefer the 5.4% taste to the usual 5% stuff but 330ml cans are a pain in the arse!

Our co-op is doing a promotion of 4x 330ml San Miguel bottles and 2 pizzas for £5. Stocked up with a supply of both.

Aldi seem to have completely changed their wine selection in our Belper store. No Toro. No exquisite Argentinian Malbec. No Portugueses Dao. No unicorn! Only 6 bottles of Douro left. I took four.

Lots of Douro at Ashbourne last week, the boggo Primitivo seems to have disappeared though, not seen Unicorn for an age. Stock lines do seem cyclical in nature at Aldi/Lidl, the phrase Postcode lottery also comes to mind.

Whats it called/look like? I'll see if my personal shopper (Mrs21) can find it on her next outing.
