Is it me or do Aldi seem worse and worse value for money on specials and some foods? The Big Stack for instance would be perfect at £1 but is what, £1.50+? I used to be excited by the MAOD but not I fond myself passing it ignored since its full of same old things every week!
They’ll have limited ability to offer deals on food that isn’t their own brand - that Big Stack thing is £1.50 in Iceland too.

I absolutely thought the Big Stack was Aldi own brand already!!

Bought an Islay single malt in Aldi. Superb value at £18. It must be laphroaig rebranded
There’s always much debate on where these actually come from - well worth £18 though!
I bought a bottle a couple of years ago and it was I awful
Sounds like it’s almost certainly Laphroaig then!

We've just had a lidl open round the corner which at the moment is a novelty.

It's nice to have it, the meat this place has on offer rivals a nearby other supermarket that's twice as big. Im also noticing they have a lot on reduction all the time, maybe due to stock levels not being analysed yet locally.

Overall we are finding it quite cheap in areas, the Xmas confectionary will be used this year rather than others.

You can take them back and they happily refund it. Sometimes the vacuum seal breaks on things or they never got that gas stuff in it. Happens to bacon alot in my store. A good 5 weeks or more date and it looks pure grey... nippy but these things happen.

I got a packet of carrots for 19p yesterday. I won't eat them but at 19p her horse will love me more than her for a few days.

i sent details to customer services, just in case it wasn't just mine.

not worth the grief of storing rancid meat to take back or the effort of taking it back

Has anyone seen any of the 1kg Serrano Ham's in Lidl over the past few days. Bought one last year as my contribution to the family Xmas meal and it was absolutely fantastic (perfect beer snack).

Bought another a few weeks ago but found it went mouldy in the cupboard last week. Took it back, they were happy to refund it but did not have any in stock.

Been to the local store (Hove) Thurs and Sat with no luck and checked Horsham on the way into work earlier today but they also have none.

I know it's an exceedingly middle class first world problem but it'll be a shame if I can't find another :/

Pic of last year's to make this more interesting:

I have a very 'efficient' approach to minimising food waste but sadly this was well beyond even those standards laugh

Why do they bother with vanilla choco balls. All I want is banana choco flakes.

Yes seen these in my local one in Dorset.

Did seem tempting but not for me in this quantity

The trick with the fancy items is to search out a Lidls/Aldi in a town centre that doesn't have a car park. My local one always has loads of the hams/posh wines/ etc when everyone reports them selling out elsewhere.

Last year ALDI did an absolute banger of a mulled wine. So far this year not in stock.

I'd go as far to say it is the best mulled wine I have ever had.

11% ABV. Lovely.

We couldn’t find any in Lidl so had to buy the non alcoholic mulled punch and stick a shed load of amaretto in it. The end result was lovely. smile

The current Amarone at a stupendous £9.99 a bottle is an absolute bloody bargain!!

It's young and perhaps a little sweet (that should abate with time) but by jove it's simply a corker for ten quid.

...I'm up early tomorrow and off to clean them out.

Anybody seen the big bags of these recently?

They were better than Frazzels... I think you can get the small bags in the variety mix bags - but not seen the big bags for while.

Bought the Lidl equivalent today, if that's any use.
