Anyone reccomend a decent red from aldi?
My post above. Everyone I know (and many PHer's) who tries it thinks it's superb. Cracking value too.
Indeed, I gave it a go after that latest recommendation and thought it was excellent.

On the subject of shared products. Aldi's small 'special' (Extra indulgent?) chocolate cake at £1.60 something is the very same cake as the Co-Op one at £3.20 something.
This is my favourite cake, always make sure I have one in the cupboard!

While we're w(h)ining...

The Muscat grape makes the most adorable wines. Probably my favourite wine grape; definitely my favourite white wine grape.

Usually, I have to schlep over to Alsace to get my fix, but Lidl has knocked the ball out of the park including (weirdly) this wonderful Austrian offering in their current Italian Wine Tour promo. Great price and from an award-winning vineyard.

It's a WIGIG line - and only in stores with larger wine sections - so grab it if you can!

Had this last week, really good IMHO. Complex and serious, took ages to finish which is always a good sign.

I'm a little surprised you didn't pick up enough to see you beyond the weekend.

Luxembourg Lidl has a buy one get one free on these. Even full price they're only €2.99, but at half that it's a steal. 6 in the trolley.

Amazing price. Primitivo is my favourite. I've got an Aldi Unicorn Grande Alberone Primitivo to open, labelled as Zinfandel for the plebs.

Our local Lidl had the Chianti Riserva at £4.29 this morning, so picked up a few bottles.

I got mine on Wednesday, so it's being stocked currently at some outlets.

Picked this up in Lidl this morning for today's lunch. A little tannic, but super smooth. Definitely worth the £5.99 price tag.

They sell that in Lidl over here. It's a decent table wine. You'll be gutted to know they charge less than 3 euros for it here.

One thing i like buying is the vaccum packets of smoked mackerel in the fridge meats/fish section of ALDI/LIDL. Other day I wanted the piri piri one. took out a full 'box' of smoked mackerel and out of the entire box/crate only 2 of them were piri piri.

also noticed a lack of frozen pizzas. like the stonebaked spicy meat/nduja ones.

There were some bizarre flavour frozen pizzas in my local Aldi last week. Might have to try some…
