Just polished this off, it was bloody lovely. A proper man sized portion too, rather than the kids meal size of most convenience meals.

Yes we normally share one of these with a bit of garlic bread pizza too smile

The 29p packs of veg have come early to Tescos, so wonder if Aldi and Lidl will follow suit. I think theres are due to start this Thursday.

Finally got my mitts on some chocolate stollen and lebkuchen from Lidl.

Gonna do a final smash n grab there tomorrow before Xmas.

Don't go to Lidl that often - any recommendations for more seasonal treats to get?

My local is being cleared out as soon as they restock. Local hotels etc. Can't blame them but maybe a limit of 2 of each item per customer would be a reasonable restriction.

Finally gave in to temptation after all the good reports on here and got some sloe gin mince pies from Aldi today - and wow , they are delicious, especially after 8 min in a 160*C oven lick

So good I’m not sure I should get any more hehe

Called past Aldi yesterday, all cheap veg (except spuds) sold out with loads of empty shelf space.

I've managed to get one of each cheap veg at my local Aldi ( Bedford ) and there was plenty left.. What also surprised me was the Aldi Gin L was a bargain anyway at £14.29 has now had it's price dropped to £12.99. Will be buying some more tomorrow, as only noticed price reduction on till receipt.
Gretchen and my favourites - violet creams reduced to £1.29 now smile

They really are superb. Brilliant warm in a large puddle of custard.

There were a few Swedes left in my local Aldi (not ABBA) today

Can anyone reccommend if any of the whiskys from aldi and LIDL are any good? (i would much prefer LIDL, as its easier to get to).

i normally drink it on ice, however lately i've enjoyed having it 50/50 with some soda water

Good question. Was looking at them yesterday.
Usually, by now, someone has worked out that one of the 'unknown' whiskies is actually something very premium in disguise. No such reports on here this year though.

Glen Marnoch in Aldi is reputed to be a very respectable 'proper' whisky that Aldi was able to acquire at a very good price on condition that the provenance was not to be revealed, to avoid damaging the source distillery's brand.

As I understand it, anyway.

(I've a bottle of the 28 y.o. and it's certainly nice enough for a grotty little pleb like me.)

In my local Tesco earlier and they’ve got plenty of stock of their 19p veg selection - great value! I see M&S are at 40p, which for decent spuds is probably worth going a trip!

Oooh thank you. I tried this seasons Pink Gin ones after a mention here but wasn’t overly keen. I’m popping in to the St Neots Aldi tomorrow so will pick up a bottle of Gin and (another) box of the Violet Creams. Then fingers crossed they reduce them to .25p after Christmas smile

Aldi's Speysides are excellent value.
