Child free night so me and the OH had film and food night.

Beef Stifado with lemon and rosemary roast potatoes (roasted in water and oil, no pre-par boil)

All wrapped up with a white chocolate and vanilla bread and butter pudding.

Needless to say, stuffed! Trying to watch American Sniper in a food trance.

Looks delicious.

Greek potatoes are my favourite, we've done them with chicken stock instead of water before and they were amazing.

Had a hankering for some ribs. With some coleslaw and cucumber & chive sour cream dressing. And chips, natch.

Keep seeing this and thinking it looks fantastic. Was that the liver on the side? is it strong¿
Thanks Pete. You've made me doubt whether it was the roe or the liver. It was "fishy" and a little bitter but I couldn't resist being cheffy.
Waaaay too big to be the liver, must be roe. Liver is usually darker too.

My dinner looked something akin to this today:

Ended up going to a Beefeater for the first time in my life, as the friend I was out with for the whole day lives near one, and we wanted some food after going back to take his dogs for a walk, so it seemed convenient, and he said it was fairly good. I had always turned my nose up a little at these places a little as I never really trust chains that much, but I was quite pleasantly surprised. The burger was really good, the fries just right, and the coleslaw really nice too. Beer there was only average, and we were in Corby, so not an amazing place all round, but I enjoyed it.
Burger was called a "Double Bacon & Cheese Steak Burger", and looked better than the one in the pic I found from Google, but you get the idea. Wasn't really the place to be taking pics of my own dinner.
On the whole, recommended, and I never thought I would say that.
Perhaps more of a confession that I feel bad that I can be a bit of a food snob, and hopefully some people might read this and think.

Yes, I think they are my potato of choice, easy too. Sometimes use stock and garlic when doing Greek potatoes. The stifado recipe I use is really rich so the potatoes worked well a little lemony-sharp.

Smart, intelligent cooking! It looks delicious.

I'm a fan of steam roasting in an emulsion also. I do it in a ceramic roasting dish to avoid sticking.

Sticky Peri-Peri BBQ ribs

Marinaded in Coca-Cola for a couple of hours, then pressure cooked (still in the Coke) for 20 minutes. Rubbed with Peri-Peri spice mix and brushed with BBQ sauce, then into a hot oven for 30 minutes. Luscious, fall apart ribs, sticky, crispy, spicy and caramelised. Heaven! cloud9
