A couple of new ones procured from Drinkmonger in Pitlochry.
Plantation Stiggins Pineapple is very nice. Obviously flavoured and sweetened but not to the extent of stuff like Bumbu or Don Papa. @ £35 for a fancy rum it's probably on for collectors or pineapple obsessives!
The FourSquare Zinfandel cask is fantastic. It gets it's light sweetness from the barrel ageing and has no added sugar. £40 seems about the right price.

Woods' is only £20 on Amazon at the moment. The bottle and label have changed but the contents are the same - i.e. just as poky.
I've just got some of this. Its good.
I've been put off trying it previously because I tried Lambs Navy and found it to be like vodka flavoured with caramel but worse.
Previously if I've been in the mood to buy premium I've had El Dorado 12 or Mount Gay Black barrel. I can get Woods in my local Morrisons and at 57% its going to be a nice winter warmer.
Tastes great neat so should mix well too if I fancy.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Admiral's Old J Spiced Rum, after being treated to a couple of shots at the Great British Tattoo Show at the weekend.
They also do a 151 Proof 'Tiki Fire' version which I also tried, incredibly smooth as easily neat drinkable considering the strength!
Bar near me stocks tiki fire, they ran out of kraken one night, out came the never used tiki fire and me and a friend neary polished off a full bottle (with coke zero as a mixer obviously) They also do a 151 Proof 'Tiki Fire' version which I also tried, incredibly smooth as easily neat drinkable considering the strength!

Pretty lethal stuff yet smooth and easy to drink
Couple of mine, which despite having had them both since May, I’ve not touched a drop of - yet (due to being on antibiotics, finally oral now, rather than the months I’ve spent on daily intravenous antibiotics).
Some fairly “standard” Diplomatico:
This is distilled in Hamburg and was from my Lovely GF. It’s got a great vanilla smell to it.

I think I've perfected the rum old-fashioned so what better place to share it with than the denizens of the rum thread? I've used Fernet Branca as I have it but other bitters could be substituted - I'd think two to four dashes of something like Angostura would be enough but I don't have any to test against.
1 tsp Demerara or other golden sugar
1 tsp orange marmalade
1 tsp water
50ml shot dark OP rum (Woods or Pusser's Gunpowder Proof)
50ml shot standard rum (Mount Gay, Bacardi Gold etc.)
2 tsp Fernet Branca
Chill a heavy tumbler in the freezer as you start. Grind the sugar to a fine powder in a mortar and pestle (or just use caster sugar if you couldn't be bothered!). Add the sugar, marmalade and water to a ramekin and microwave for 20 seconds to make a marmalade syrup. Give that a stir to make sure the sugar is dissolved and add to a cocktail shaker. Add the rums and Fernet Branca with a heap of ice and shake. Strain to serve, or don't if you like a bit more ice and marmalade chunks.

A recent find - Duppy Share was circa £20 from Sainsbury's. - https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/ser...
Really easy drinking, perfect to mix. Works well with both ginger and coke.
i picked up a bottle of los valientes 15yr old recently - mexican mix of 70% double pot-distilled cane and 30% column still molasses. its excellent and the molasses gives it the sweetness and complexity without any additives. master of malt have a few of different ages, all less than £33.
my parents also gave me a bottle of kirk and sweeney 12yr old, named after a prohibition rum running ship. seems to get good reviews but i haven't opened it yet, abstaining from booze for a bit after a rather heavy december/january!

Apart from El Dorado 15y.o., I mix mine with coke (or occasionally a ginger ale with a twist of lime) and my daily glug of choice is an Appleton Estate as they're not too sweet and the rum flavour comes through nicely.
Not being keen on dark rums, I have tried a Gosling Black Seal with coke, and was nice enough. However, the local supermarket has something called Bayou dark rum on offer for 20 quid a pop at the moment.
Has anyone else tried this, and is it worth giving it a go?
If it's even half as sweet as a Diplomatico Riserva, then I'll give it a miss.

I can't imagine anything comes close to being half as sweet as Diplomatico Reserva, not even sugar! Not being keen on dark rums, I have tried a Gosling Black Seal with coke, and was nice enough. I rarely mix rum with anything, I'll be honest, but if it's at the £20 price point it should be fine.
This arrived yesterday, courtesy of my daughter who is a Virgin Atlantic hostie and has just had a Cuba trip, not sure how many Cuban pesos she said but it worked out at £15.25 for the bottle, good value I think.
Apparently the lady in the rum shop was very emphatic, no cook, no cook, just drink.
Daughter, wife and new kitchen in the background.
