I drink a lot more rum in the summer (a nice ti' punch before dinner, or something fruity and frozen in the afternoon!) and have been impressed with this lately, especially for the price - around $25!

I’ve had their spiced rum.

Found it fairly light and subtle in comparison to Kraken or Dark Matter, for instance.

Did enjoy it but haven’t bought it again since.

Bought a bottle of this recently on a recommendation, and it's bloody marvellous:

Ah, the old Bumbu! This is the one everyone seems to like apart from the serious rum people who treat it with absolutely and utter derision lol.

I sent one of my colleagues who has recently got into rum 10 samples recently which he worked his way through in order. Number 3 was FourSquare Zinfandel cask which is widely regarded as one of the best rums ever produced and bottles go at auction for £300ish now. This was his favourite until number 10 which was Bumbu which can be bought in Asda for £32.

Honest opinion, I quite like it haha.
Anyone tried the XO version of this?

I've not bought anything in a long while now. Well, not quite true - I picked up a bottle of Duppy Share the other week in Booths as it was on offer, and I've not tried it yet. I'll open it once we hit Dec I think.

Forgot about the Rum thread laugh

I was in Jamaica a couple of months ago and was surprised how limited the selection was, even in big supermarkets (not just in a resort bar) in towns. Lots of white rum, but most aged stuff was international brands / the same as you would see in duty free.

I was expecting to see more from Monymusk, Hampden, Longpond etc. I ended up getting some Monymusk white rum and its just...overproof white rum. Smiliar rocket fuel to Bacardi 151 etc.

The Costco Kirkland spiced rum isn’t a bad everyday slurp
Around £40 for a 1.75L bottle, not that dissimilar to Kraken.
I know our taxes are different but here in the states it’s $13.99.

I bought some because of these posts and forgot to report back, so thank you! I got a bottle of the "Revenge" because I liked the sounds of the funk and fruit description and by and large it lived up to it. It's not the full punched-in-the-face-by-a-pineapple Jamaican experience but closer to something like Foursquare + Hampden Veritas. I really like it!

They released a small wild yeast series this year which has now sold out - onto the mail list if you want to secure some next time.

Picked this up coming through the Duty Free, wine cask finish, decent.

Wild yeast series from J Gow, highly limited edition, will be added to the rest of the J Gow Collection.

Some new ones from yesterday. Two bottles of FourSquare Indelible sourced from one of my go to shops for me, one for drinking, one for investment as always with FS Exceptional Cask Series. Couple of other bottles that looked interesting, the Dram Mor Fiji one seems to be getting good write ups.

Oooh, where did you source the wild yeast and Foursquare from?

I picked up a bottle of the Indelible when we visited Foursquare last year and it's scrumptious stuff - wish I'd bought more but there was a power cut across the whole island and I only had enough cash on my for one bottle. I'm trying hard to save some as an attempt to get my whisky loving Dad onto rum when he visits later this year!

(Rum experts - Look away now)

This thread has just reminded me to buy a new bottle of Bumbu!

Haven't had it for months, and since we moved house there is barely anything in the drinks cupboard. I shall be purchasing some today!

Was from Royal Mile Whiskies / Drinkmonger as I forgot to buy one direct from J Gow.
