The 330ml form factor in the hand reminds me of softdrinks and is off putting, I've only ever seen the smaller size stocked in my local Sainsburys.
Sounds like a strange psychological barrier.

How does a bigger can feel any different in your hand when they are the same diameter?

Does pouring it into a glass help?

I take it you don't normally drink craft beer?

I drink beverages in pint form, I can go as low as a 440ml can but anything less just doesn't feel right so end up drinking a lot more to compensate.

Pint cans? You're obviously drinking mainstream lagers and not craft beer?

A good beer has far more flavour and a higher alcohol content than mainstream lagers. You aren't going to guzzle these beers like you do normal lager.

Also if you value the taste of beer you'd be pouring it into a glass to help with the flavour and it would be immaterial what the can size was to begin with.

Beer in cans just seems wrong to me, although I guess it makes a lot of sense when you're shipping internationally.

I've also yet to find a brewdog beer that's drinkable but I accept that's my taste rather than their beer, my Mrs loves their hoppy crap. They're surprisingly popular on the continent, you see their beers in European supermarkets a lot, and I went in to tier bar in Berlin a while back and it was rammed, although it was marathon weekend so a lot of tourists there.

I think that’s what he was implying/saying originally?

They even sell glassware: https://www.brewdog.com/shop/merch/barware-glasses...

I enjoy a 330ml can, especially if it’s a craft something or other that I’m only going to drink a couple of.

As or Five Guys... it’s the missus and I’s Deliveroo flavour of the month just now, if we’re home on a Saturday night we’ll often get a Five Guys.

Staggered to read here that they don’t make a profit though!!? Considering we’re usually £40 for 2x burgers, 2x chips and 2 shakes.

Went to the 5 guys in Reading today with the kids.

3 "small" cheeseburgers, 1 regular fries to share, 1 soft drink, one water. £28. eekrolleyes

And they don't make a profit???!! Is is because they all rent in crazy expensive locations?

Interestingly Chick-Fil-A has just opened at the other end of the Oracle shopping centre. They've already been told they won't have their lease renewed after a campaign from the local LGBT group who have flagged the company's (and CEO's) hyper Christian attitudes to gay marriage and the company's donations to less than liberal organisations. It looked pretty quiet when we walked by.

Chick-Fil-A is another one that's HUGE in the USA (like queueing out the door on Saturday lunchtimes), but the brand and offering doesn't really translate well over here, to a market where chicken is dominated by one provider (KFC).

We dropped into the five guys in islington on a Saturday evening when there for something else a while back, was about 5 people eating in there, not really sustainable that.

Nice burgers and worth the $ but as can be seen from comments here a) people generally aren't prepared to pay that for a burger when I guess "because mcdonaulds" and b) there's no shortage of artisan burger joints in town these days, many of which present more as restaraunt than fast food which I guess people prepared to pay more $ expect.

EDIT:

We just dropped in to one for a pre gig munch and it reminded me just what the problem is - £32 for 2 burgers, 2 drinks (one alcoholic) and 1 fries, which is fine and it was nice, but it all came in a big bag of mess and it's messy food - you can't eat it cleanly, you will be smooshing it all up your face. That's okay cos I ain't got no class, but you can go to any number of other artisan burger places and get the grub served in a slightly more sensetive-to-ones-decorum manner, and I suspect the majority of people happy to pay the above will far prefer this.

I’ve just noticed that they are about to open a new branch by St. Paul’s. There is a McDonalds and a GBK within a couple of doors, both a fair bit cheaper with the offers that Five Guys never seem to have.

They might be a bit better off there than in the suburban branches that always seem to be empty, but I can’t see how they can last too long.
