Tbh the whole sterilising thing is nonsense, built up to make the dirtier members of society take things seriously. The feed we used (aptimil) said to use cooled, boiled water.

We reached that conclusion pretty quickly. Mostly after picking bottles back up off the floor and giving them back.
Normally pre-made it and gave it to them cold.

I would imagine that very little goes into the bin now.
My outlaws have a waste disposal unit, and with the amount of recycling they do, their dustbin's hardly ever used. We wanted a disposal unit for our new kitchen, but trying to find a local supplier proved a PITA.

What do you put in it then, I assumed waste disposal units were mainly for food waste? Our council take plastics, glass, paper and cardboard, and we compost our food waste, but it's still surprising how much goes in the normal bin, we probabably average half filling it every week.

We had one for many years, but when the kitchen was refitted we had it taken out.

We had a couple of drain blockages early on and the plumber said they had seen a big increase in blocked drains caused by waste disposal units. We stopped using it eventually.

This was in the late 80's when they seemed to be the must have gadget.

They are great, a mate recommended one to me for keeping the fruit & veg intake up. Much quicker and easier to use than normal juicers. The main problem with them is the adverts, proper cheesy QVC specials!

i know if a chum hadnt show me theirs id have never have bought one as the ads are so naff!!

For me it's not my Bialetti Mokka pot (though that comes close) but instead my old trusty microwave rice cooker. I keep contemplating replacing it with an electric one, but it just keeps going.
